If an XSplit Broadcaster scene is missing after a Windows restart, use XSplit’s presentation recovery prompt: open File, hold Shift, then click Load presentation…. Select the relevant backed-up presentation and check its scene list. XSplit also says you can open the same prompt by holding Shift while Broadcaster loads after you log in.
Recover the presentation that contains your scene
- Launch XSplit Broadcaster after restarting Windows.
- Open File.
- Hold Shift and click Load presentation…. XSplit says this opens a prompt listing backed-up presentations. XSplit Support: Presentations
- Select the backup that should contain the missing scene.
- Inspect the scene list after it loads. In XSplit, a presentation contains scenes, and scenes contain sources. Confirm you opened the intended presentation before concluding that the scene is gone. XSplit Support: Scene and Source Management
You can also hold Shift while XSplit Broadcaster is loading after you log in to open the recovery prompt. XSplit says it automatically saves presentation backups, but its reviewed instructions do not specify how long those backups are retained or where they are stored on disk. They do not describe a manual file-based recovery method.
If the scene still does not appear
Check for a separate scene save
Use the scene save or load controls in XSplit’s File menu if you previously saved the scene separately. The presentation recovery prompt restores a backed-up presentation; scene save/load is a distinct option. A Windows restart by itself is not identified in XSplit’s instructions as a cause of scene loss.
Make a separate export after recovery
For an additional portability copy, open Extensions > Presentation Packager. XSplit documents exporting a self-contained BPZip presentation or a BPres file with its corresponding source folder. This is a separate backup measure, not the recovery prompt. XSplit Support: Presentation Packager

You may keep a second copy of that export on separate storage, but the export documentation does not endorse a particular storage device.
Troubleshoot recovery and crashes
- The wrong scenes loaded: Check which presentation you selected in the recovery prompt. Scenes belong to presentations, so another presentation may have a different scene list.
- No suitable backup is listed: The documented recovery process depends on a backup appearing in the prompt. XSplit does not specify backup retention, a disk location, or a manual restore procedure, so the available documentation cannot establish whether an older backup still exists.
- Broadcaster keeps crashing: XSplit documents automatically generated dump files in
%ProgramData%XSplitBroadcaster. A dump is diagnostic information, not a scene-restoration file. Follow XSplit Support’s directions to compress and share it if Support requests it. XSplit Support: How to Find and Send a Crash Dump File - You are checking Windows compatibility: XSplit’s system requirements page lists Windows 10/11 64-bit. It says Windows 8.1 and below are no longer supported and that Broadcaster V4.0 is available for those systems. Check the current requirements page for details. XSplit Broadcaster system requirements
XSplit’s statement that scenes, sources, and settings stay on-device was specific to its 2025 infrastructure transition. It should not be read as a guarantee that files survive every restart, crash, reinstall, user-profile change, or storage failure. XSplit Support: Local Settings and Data

Or let it run in the cloud
Scene recovery and keeping an always-on YouTube stream running are different problems. If your goal is to loop uploaded videos on YouTube without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
- Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo loops uploaded video in the cloud.
- Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card; one free day is available per account.
The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos and streams to YouTube only; it does not stream live from a camera. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
