For the full animated story, start with the 2001 Grappler Baki TV anime, including its Maximum Tournament run, then watch BAKI, Baki Hanma and BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai. On Netflix, the sequence starts later: BAKI Parts 1–3, Baki Hanma Seasons 1–2, then BAKI-DOU Parts 1–2. For the manga, read the six main series in order, from Grappler Baki through the ongoing Baki Rahen.
What order should I watch Baki in?
To follow the animated story from its beginning, use this order:
- Grappler Baki / Baki the Grappler (2001 TV anime): Watch the first run, followed by the Maximum Tournament run. This is the older beginning of the animated sequence, not another name for the newer BAKI.
- BAKI (Netflix title): Watch Parts 1, 2 and 3 in order. Parts 1–2 adapt the death-row-convict storyline; Part 3 continues with the Great Raitai Tournament. Netflix lists the title as three parts: Netflix’s BAKI listing.
- Baki Hanma: Watch Seasons 1 and 2. This is the next story title even though its season numbering restarts at Season 1.
- BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai: Watch Part 1, then Part 2. Netflix Tudum says Part 2, released June 18, 2026, contains episodes 14–25: Netflix Tudum’s BAKI-DOU coverage.
The official Japanese site lists broadcast scheduling separately, including a second cour beginning October 4, 2026. That broadcast schedule does not change the narrative order: official BAKI-DOU site.
How do I watch Baki in order on Netflix?
- BAKI Parts 1–3
- Baki Hanma Seasons 1–2
- BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai Parts 1–2
Netflix’s catalog can vary by territory and change over time. Follow the title names and their part or season labels rather than trying to treat every installment as one continuous season count. This Netflix-only route begins after the 2001 Grappler Baki anime.

Can I start with the Netflix anime?
Yes. Starting with Netflix’s BAKI is a convenient way into the newer animated run, but it skips the earlier story covered by the 2001 Grappler Baki. The newer series begins in a world where rivalries and relationships are already established. Choose the 2001 series first if you want the full animated lead-in; choose Netflix’s BAKI first if convenience matters more than seeing that earlier material.
Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura is an optional crossover, not a required installment in the main sequence. The sources cited here do not establish a definitive chronological or canon placement for it.

What order do I read the Baki manga in?
Read the main manga series in this continuity and publication sequence:
- Grappler Baki
- New Grappler Baki (often marketed simply as Baki)
- Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre
- Baki-Dou (2014)
- Baki-Dou (2018)
- Baki Rahen
MANGAPlus identifies Baki Rahen as the sixth series and ongoing: MANGAPlus’s Baki Rahen page. Keep the two manga series named Baki-Dou distinct: the current Netflix adaptation is based on the 2014–2018 manga, while the 2018 Baki-Dou is a separate later installment.

Where can I start with the English manga?
Kodama Tales’ Baki The Grappler (Perfect Edition) Vol. 1 is a documented English-language starting edition of the first manga series. The publisher announced a 24-volume English Perfect Edition in October 2025: Kodama Tales’ edition announcement. The publisher lists Vol. 1 as ISBN 9781966523000, released October 1, 2025: Kodama Tales’ Vol. 1 page.
Those listings establish an English edition of the first series, not the current availability of authorized English editions for all five later series. Check publisher and retailer listings for current edition and stock information before buying. Kodama Tales describes the franchise as having sold over 100 million copies worldwide; that is the publisher’s figure, not an independently audited total.

Why the two Baki-Dou titles can be confusing
The manga has two separate series with the same romanized title, differentiated by their start years: Baki-Dou (2014) and Baki-Dou (2018). The Netflix adaptation titled BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai is based on the 2014–2018 manga, not the later 2018 series. This distinction matters if you are switching from the anime to the manga and want to continue in sequence.
Akita Shoten’s listing shows seven collected Japanese volumes of Baki Rahen, with volume 7 released July 8, 2026: Akita Shoten’s Baki Rahen volume listing. This is a time-specific Japanese volume count, not a statement about English editions.
