Use YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room to check a livestream’s status and analytics while your home PC is off. That works only if the encoder sending video to YouTube is running somewhere else, such as a cloud service. A remote-control app for OBS can show information from a running home computer; it cannot keep that computer’s encoder streaming after the computer is powered down.
What you can monitor in YouTube Live Control Room
YouTube’s Live Control Room is the documented place to check stream health and analytics during a livestream. Stream status can show specific errors and instructions. Available real-time metrics include concurrent viewers, duration, likes, chat rate, views, and average view duration. These help you see what YouTube reports about the broadcast and how viewers are engaging; the cited YouTube guidance does not promise proactive phone alerts. YouTube: monitor your live stream.
To use the dashboard, sign in to the YouTube account that owns the stream, open YouTube Studio, and go to Live Control Room for the broadcast. Check the stream status first; if YouTube displays an error, follow the instructions shown there. Then consult the live analytics relevant to your question, such as concurrent viewers or chat rate.
Why the encoder still matters when your PC is off
A live feed must be encoded and sent to YouTube by an encoder running somewhere. In YouTube’s encoder workflow, you enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the encoder, start the encoder, and manage the broadcast through Live Control Room. For the broadcast to continue with the home PC powered down, the encoding workload must run on a different machine or a cloud-hosted service. A dashboard that is accessible online is not, by itself, proof that the encoder is cloud-hosted.
Check that the stream is genuinely hosted in the cloud
- Identify where the encoder runs. Confirm that the provider’s server, rather than your home PC, is sending the feed to YouTube. If only the control panel is in the cloud, the local PC may still be required.
- Open Live Control Room for the broadcast. Review stream status and any error instructions, then check the real-time analytics you need.
- Match the service to the kind of stream. Verify that it supports your intended workflow—such as looping prerecorded documentaries, a live camera feed, or an interactive production—and that it sends to YouTube.
- Check what you can control remotely. Look for access to stream health, restart controls, and failure notifications if those matter to you. Do not assume a provider offers phone alerts or automatic recovery unless its current product information confirms it.
- Verify current terms with the provider. Confirm availability, pricing, and the relevant service details before relying on it for a broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder help result names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 livestreaming of prerecorded videos, but that listing does not establish its current plans, reliability, or specific monitoring and alert features. YouTube encoder help.

Remote OBS control is not cloud hosting
Control OBS documentation describes using a phone to control OBS running on a computer and view stream statistics such as bitrate and dropped frames. That can help monitor a local setup while its computer is running, but it does not replace an encoder on a PC that has been turned off. Control OBS.
