Check Wirecast’s version and output state
Once the connection is back, check whether Wirecast output has resumed. Telestream’s version-history note describes automatic reconnection after internet service is restored, but if output remains down, check whether your installed version includes that fix. If the state is unclear, gather Wirecast’s support information and contact Telestream support.

Inspect stream status in YouTube Live Control Room
Check the stream’s status and health in YouTube Live Control Room. If a third-party encoder reports an error while starting, YouTube advises checking the stream key and updating the encoder with the key displayed in Live Control Room. Determine whether the feed or the event needs attention
Reconnect the encoder feed and starting or stopping the YouTube event are different actions. YouTube’s Auto-start and Auto-stop options let an encoder start or stop an event; YouTube does not describe them as controls for reconnecting a dropped network feed. For scheduled streams, follow the encoder workflow shown for the event: YouTube’s instructions say to wait for the preview and click Go live when required. Investigate if Wirecast output is healthy but viewers still have trouble

When to update or reset the stream key
A stream key is the credential Wirecast uses to send the feed to YouTube. Check that Wirecast is using the key shown for the event if the encoder reports a start error, or update it if you have reason to believe the key is compromised. Do not reset it reflexively after every connection drop: a key change does not restore internet access or, by itself, resolve a mid-stream network interruption. Prevent repeat interruptions and plan for failover
- Check upload capacity: Telestream recommends reducing data rate, frame rate, or frame size when available upload capacity is insufficient. Telestream Wirecast support
- Watch system load: High CPU usage can contribute to dropped frames, termination, or exceptions. The support guidance gives differing CPU thresholds in separate passages, so there is no single threshold to apply here. Telestream Wirecast support
- Monitor the live stream: YouTube advises creators to monitor streams and stop the encoder after the event has stopped on YouTube. YouTube live-stream tips
- Test backup-encoder failover only if configured: YouTube recommends testing by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable and confirming the player rolls over to the backup.
