YouTube Studio creates and manages the live stream; it does not provide a universal loop switch for prerecorded files. The repeat control depends on the encoder you choose.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- A completed video file and an encoder or compatible streaming service that can send it to YouTube and repeat it.
- The necessary rights for every visual and audio element in the stream, including meditation music, ambient sound, and nature recordings.
- A stable internet connection if you use a local encoder. YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate; that margin is a recommendation, not a guarantee against interruptions. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Set up a repeating stream with a local encoder
- Enable livestreaming in advance. Verify the channel and complete any required activation. Do not wait until the day you intend to go live if this is your first stream.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to reach Live Control Room, then create or schedule a stream. YouTube’s encoder workflow is documented in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in the stream settings before broadcasting.
- Enter the details in your encoder. Open the encoder’s server or stream settings and paste the YouTube stream URL and key into the corresponding fields. The exact labels and layout vary by encoder.
- Load the meditation video and turn on repeat. Find the encoder’s playback or playlist controls and set the file to repeat, or create a playlist that repeats. Confirm the selected mode actually returns to the beginning when playback ends; YouTube Studio does not control this behavior.
- Check the preview, then start sending. Start the encoder and wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room. YouTube creates the watch page when the encoder begins sending. Check the picture, sound, and stream status before making the stream public.
- End the stream from the encoder. Stop sending content in the encoder when you want to end the broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume that same archive behavior for longer streams.
Test the loop and plan for continuous playback
Check the join between the end and beginning
Before relying on a public or unattended stream, preview a full loop in Live Control Room. Listen for silence, clipped words, abrupt volume changes, or a jarring transition where the file restarts. View the live page from a second device as well, and monitor both audio and video. YouTube recommends monitoring stream quality; see its streaming tips and live-streaming guidance.
Allow time and bandwidth
For planned events, YouTube advises setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event. Those lead times are also useful buffers when launching a loop. Use a wired, stable connection for a local setup where possible, and leave the recommended 20% upload headroom over the stream’s total bitrate.
Know what a local setup depends on
A local encoder sends the video from the computer running it. That computer, the encoder, and its internet connection must keep operating for the feed to continue. A network interruption or stopped encoder can interrupt the live stream, so arrange monitoring and a way to restart it if uninterrupted playback matters.

Check music, video, and livestream rights
Make sure your permission covers livestreaming and the intended territories, not only ordinary video uploads. YouTube’s Terms of Service require providers to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of live content, including applicable music rights. This is especially important for meditation tracks, ambient music, nature audio, and visuals: a license for a regular upload may not include livestream use.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, a warning to appear, or an unresolved stream to be interrupted or terminated. Even if you have a license, the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID for the stream to avoid interruption. YouTube also says archived live streams may receive Content ID claims after the broadcast. See YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Common problems and fixes
- No preview appears in Live Control Room: Confirm that the encoder is running, the stream URL and key are in the correct fields, and the key belongs to the stream you created. Reset the key if it may have been exposed.
- The file plays once and stops: The repeat setting is controlled by the encoder or service, not YouTube Studio. Recheck its playback mode or playlist repeat option and test through the end of the file.
- The loop has a silent gap or abrupt join: Review the source file’s ending and beginning, adjust the edit if needed, then test another complete cycle while listening from the live page.
- The stream buffers or disconnects: Check the local connection’s upload capacity against the total stream bitrate and aim for YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Use a stable wired connection where practical; headroom reduces strain but cannot prevent every outage.
- The stream shows a copyright warning or is replaced: Check the rights for all audio and visuals and whether the rights owner must allowlist your channel through Content ID. Resolve the issue rather than assuming a license alone will prevent automated interruption.
- The stream ends when the computer sleeps or encoder closes: A local setup relies on the machine and connection that send the feed. Prevent sleep and keep the encoder running, or use a cloud service if the computer cannot remain on.
FAQ
Can I loop a meditation video directly in YouTube Studio?
No universal loop control is described in YouTube’s encoder workflow. Set repeat playback in the encoder or streaming service sending the video.
Will YouTube archive a 24/7 loop?
YouTube’s encoder help page specifies automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. It does not establish the same archive behavior for longer streams.
