Use two separate pieces: give viewers your channel’s YouTube Live page, and configure your encoder with a reusable custom stream key. The key sends video to YouTube; it is not the link viewers watch. For advance promotion, schedule a stream and share that event’s watch page instead.

Which URL should you reuse?

What you need Use this What it does
Recurring destination for viewers https://www.youtube.com/channel/CHANNEL_ID/live Opens your channel’s Live destination, where viewers can find the current live stream. Treat it as the practical recurring link, not a guarantee that YouTube will keep the URL unchanged forever. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains watch pages and live-stream setup.
Sending a feed from your encoder A custom stream key configured in YouTube Studio and your encoder Authenticates the encoder’s incoming feed. It is a sensitive credential, not a viewer-facing URL. YouTube’s stream-settings guidance says to create a custom stream key to reuse the same key.
Promoting a specific future broadcast The scheduled stream’s watch page Gives people an upcoming event page for promotion and reminders. It is distinct from the channel Live destination and is not a reusable link to every future broadcast.

Set up a prerecorded loop with a reusable key

  1. Check that your channel can go live. YouTube’s current help page lists channel verification and no live-stream restriction in the past 90 days among its prerequisites. Confirm your eligibility and current Studio status before planning a broadcast: YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
  2. Open the Stream workflow. In YouTube Studio, select Go Live, then use the Stream workflow for a recurring encoder setup. In Live Control Room, create a custom stream key if you want a dedicated reusable key. YouTube also offers a way to reuse previous stream settings; that is a settings workflow, not a different viewer URL. Manage live stream settings.
  3. Protect the key. Copy the key into your encoder’s YouTube or stream-key settings. Never put it in a public description, screenshot, or message intended for viewers. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement.
  4. Configure the encoder to send the prerecorded video. Select YouTube or enter the stream URL shown in Live Control Room, then enter the custom key. Set the encoder to play the recording and repeat it as needed. Loop controls differ by encoder; YouTube’s setup pages explain how the encoder connects, but do not specify loop settings for every software or device.
  5. Choose a secure ingest option if available. If your encoder supports RTMPS, select it in place of standard RTMP. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL and explains how to reveal and copy the RTMPS URL in Live Control Room: encoder setup instructions.
  6. Test and monitor before sharing the broadcast. Check the Live Control Room preview and test audio and video. YouTube’s streaming tips suggest setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event; these are YouTube recommendations, not universal technical requirements. Monitor the feed while it is live: YouTube live-streaming tips.
  7. Give viewers the right destination. For people looking for the current broadcast, share https://www.youtube.com/channel/CHANNEL_ID/live. For an upcoming event that needs advance promotion or reminders, schedule it in Live Control Room and share that event’s watch page. YouTube says the encoder feed creates a watch page when streaming begins; stopping the encoder ends the feed.
  8. End and archive with the session limits in mind. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Plan longer loops accordingly, check the current stream status in Studio, and treat separate broadcasts as separate sessions.

Keep recurring settings straight

  • Same key, recurring encoder configuration: A custom key can be reused, so you do not have to treat it as the link to share with your audience. Keep it private and use Studio to reset it if compromised.
  • Same channel destination, current broadcast: The channel Live URL is the practical place to send viewers who want the live stream currently on your channel. YouTube’s guidance does not promise that this URL will remain unchanged forever.
  • Scheduled page, one promoted event: Use a scheduled stream’s watch page when viewers need the advance event listing or reminders. Reusing a key or stream settings does not make that event page interchangeable with the channel Live URL.

Choose an encoder that fits the production

YouTube describes both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Software is an option for an encoder-based workflow; hardware is an option for higher-production setups, not a prerequisite for reusing a key or sharing the channel Live destination. The setup task does not, by itself, establish a need to buy a capture card or dedicated streaming computer. See YouTube’s encoder overview.

Troubleshoot the link or feed

  • The viewer link does not show a live broadcast: Confirm the encoder is actively sending a feed and check the live status and preview in Live Control Room. The channel Live page is a destination for the current broadcast; it does not create one.
  • The encoder cannot connect: Check that it is using the current stream URL and key from Live Control Room, that the correct key is selected, and that the key has not been reset. If exposed, reset the key and replace it in the encoder.
  • The scheduled page is not the recurring destination you expected: Share the channel Live URL for the current broadcast. Use the scheduled event page for advance promotion of that event; the two serve different purposes.
  • The recording does not repeat: Verify the loop or repeat control in the encoder you chose. The exact setting is software- or device-specific and is not specified by YouTube’s general encoder instructions.
  • The stream ends or its archive behaves differently than expected: Check Studio’s current status and YouTube’s latest encoder instructions. The stated automatic-archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; it does not establish the archive behavior for longer broadcasts.
  • Live access is unavailable: Recheck YouTube’s eligibility page and any restriction shown in Studio, because eligibility and platform limits can change.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the goal is a prerecorded YouTube stream that continues without keeping a home computer online, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. No computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. For five or more slots, contact StreamNeo support. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
