To keep a sleep meditation playlist from repeating one video, start playback from a playlist containing several videos and turn on playlist Loop or Repeat—not repeat-one. YouTube treats these as different settings: one repeats the current video; the other cycles through the playlist. The control’s location and label depend on your device.
Repeat the whole playlist, not just one video
First make sure the sleep meditations you want are in a YouTube playlist. Start playback from that playlist, then select its Loop or Repeat control. The playlist-level setting cycles through the playlist; repeating a single video keeps the same meditation playing. YouTube documents creating and managing playlists in its playlist help and explains repeat controls in its playlist playback help.
On a computer
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the player.
- Click Loop in the playlist box. Check that the playlist, rather than only the current video, is set to repeat.
On Android
- Play a video from the playlist.
- Open the playlist control box and tap Loop.
- Check the loop icon: if it shows a “1,” YouTube is repeating the current video. Tap Loop again to switch to playlist repeat.
On a TV or gaming console
- Start the playlist.
- Open the player controls and select Repeat until the label reads “Repeat • Playlist.”
Control placement and wording can vary by device and app version. If the same video keeps playing, check the repeat state before changing other settings.
Keep Autoplay separate from playlist repeat
Playlist Loop or Repeat determines whether the playlist cycles. Autoplay determines whether YouTube automatically continues to another video when the current one ends. It is not the playlist-repeat switch. If playback leaves your intended playlist or moves to recommendations, turn off Autoplay using the watch-page toggle, then restart playback from the playlist. YouTube describes Autoplay in its Autoplay help.

Use Sleep Timer only to set a stopping point
YouTube announced Sleep Timer for mobile as a way to pause videos automatically after a selected duration. It can help if you want playback to stop after you fall asleep, but the documented feature does not determine which playlist video plays next or prevent a video from recurring. See YouTube’s Sleep Timer announcement.
What playlist repeat does—and does not—guarantee
A playlist with more distinct, suitable meditations gives YouTube more content to cycle through than a single-video playlist. But YouTube’s documented controls do not promise a shuffle algorithm, a minimum time before a video can recur, or that every item will play once before any item repeats. Do not rely on shuffle as a guarantee against early repeats.

If you are embedding the player on a website
For developers using Google’s IFrame Player API, the loop parameter loops a playlist. To loop a single video in an embed, the API documentation says to set loop=1 and set the playlist parameter to that same video’s ID. This is embed guidance, not a replacement for the playback controls in the YouTube app or website. See the IFrame Player API parameters.
