“Integrating Discord” can mean showing Discord chat or voice activity on screen, routing call audio into your stream, or syncing Twitch subscribers or YouTube channel members to server roles. These are separate jobs: Discord’s OBS Streamkit adds visual widgets, while Discord’s native Twitch and YouTube integrations manage server access. The documented Streamkit instructions do not explain how to route call audio into OBS.
Choose the Discord integration you need

How to show Discord chat or voice activity in OBS
Use this route when you want viewers to see a Discord widget in the broadcast. Discord documents Status, Chat, and Voice widgets, and says they can be used at the same time. Its support article was published in 2021, so interface labels may have changed; use the current Streamkit page’s displayed instructions and dimensions.
- Open Streamkit. Go to Discord’s Streamkit Overlay page, choose the OBS overlay, and authorize it in your Discord client. Discord says authorization lets the overlay perform an action in the client, including generating an invite for the Status widget if you choose that feature. You can review connected apps at User Settings > Connections > Authorized Apps.
- Select and configure a widget. Choose the Discord server, then select Status, Chat, or Voice. Adjust the available options and check the preview. If you need more than one widget, configure each separately.
- Add each widget to OBS. Copy its individual installation link. In OBS Studio, add a new Browser Source, paste the link, and set its width and height to the dimensions shown on the Streamkit page. Each widget has its own installation code.
- Arrange and verify it. Position the Browser Source in the OBS preview and check what viewers will see before going live. Confirm the widget is readable and does not cover important documentary footage, captions, or other scene elements.
Showing a voice widget is not the same as streaming call audio
The Voice widget is a visual overlay. It does not automatically capture participants’ voices or add them to the OBS audio mix. If you need the call itself to be heard, consult instructions for your operating system and audio setup; the official Streamkit guide does not document that workflow.
How to connect Twitch subscribers to a Discord server
Discord’s native Twitch integration is for Twitch Partners and Affiliates whose channel has a subscription option. Linking Twitch to your personal Discord account is only the first part; you must also enable the integration in the server.

- In Discord, open User Settings > Connections and connect your Twitch account.
- Open the Discord server, go to Server Settings > Integrations, select Twitch, and follow the prompts to enable the integration.
- Set server or channel permissions for the Twitch Subscriber and tier roles created by the integration.
- Check the subscriber list sync. Discord says it syncs automatically and admins can also trigger a manual sync.
Discord-managed subscriber roles can be renamed and their permissions adjusted. You can set a grace period before a former subscriber loses the role or is removed from the server. Because the integration manages these roles, members cannot be manually added to or deleted from them. If your channel does not offer subscriptions, Discord says the integration is unavailable.
How to sync YouTube members to a Discord server
Discord’s YouTube membership integration requires a YouTube Partner channel with channel memberships turned on. Connecting the account alone does not finish server setup.

- In Discord, open User Settings > Connections and connect the YouTube account associated with the channel.
- Open the server’s Server Settings > Integrations, select YouTube, and enable the channel.
- Choose whether the whole server or selected channels are available only to members.
- Review the YouTube Member and tier roles and their permissions. Discord says membership status normally syncs automatically and provides an option for manual sync.
You can rename the managed member roles, adjust their permissions or colors, and configure a grace period. Discord’s settings also let you choose whether to remove a user’s role or kick them after membership ends. Role assignment remains managed by the integration.
Protect personal information before going live
Before showing the Discord client or Discord-related information on screen, review Streamer Mode. Discord documents controls to hide Discord tags, email addresses, stream connections, and server invite links, and to disable desktop notifications and channel-join or notification sounds. Streamer Mode can be switched on manually, assigned a keybind, or set to activate when Discord detects OBS or XSplit. The support article describing these controls dates to 2021, so confirm the current settings in your client.

For server-side connections, Server Settings > Integrations is also where Discord says administrators can review Twitch and YouTube integrations, bots, webhooks, and apps, including permissions requested by installed bots or apps.
Troubleshooting common setup problems
- The widget does not appear in OBS: Check that you copied the installation link for the widget you configured, pasted it into a Browser Source, and set the source dimensions to the values shown on Streamkit. Recheck the OBS preview.
- The Voice widget appears, but callers cannot be heard: This is expected if you only added the visual widget. The Streamkit instructions do not route Discord call audio into OBS; audio capture is a separate setup.
- Twitch integration is missing or unavailable: Confirm that the Twitch channel has a subscription option and meets Discord’s documented Partner or Affiliate eligibility. Also verify that you enabled Twitch under the server’s Integrations settings, not just under personal Connections.
- YouTube members are not receiving server access: Confirm that the channel is a YouTube Partner with memberships enabled, that the account is connected in User Settings > Connections, and that the channel is enabled in Server Settings > Integrations. Check the integration’s sync controls.
- A former subscriber or member still has a role: Review the integration’s sync status and grace-period settings. Discord’s Twitch and YouTube integrations allow a grace period before role removal or, for YouTube, a configured removal or kick action.
- Private details or alerts appear on stream: Turn on Streamer Mode and review its personal-information, invite-link, notification, and sound controls before displaying Discord.
