To give someone access to Streamlabs tools, open Streamlabs Dashboard > Account Settings > Shared Access, choose Add User, select a role or set custom permissions, and send the invitation link privately. This is separate from making that person a moderator in Twitch chat: each permission is granted separately.
Give someone Streamlabs Shared Access
- Sign in at Streamlabs and open the Dashboard.
- Go to Account Settings > Shared Access, then select Add User.
- Choose Moderator, Administrator, or Custom. For Custom, select only the permissions needed for the person’s tasks.
- Confirm the invitation and send the generated invite URL privately to the intended person. Streamlabs currently documents that the invitation expires after 72 hours. If it expires, create and send a new invitation. Streamlabs Shared Access instructions (last updated December 19, 2025).
- The invitee opens the link and selects Accept Invite. They can then select View My Access or open Shared Access in their own Dashboard and choose Access Account.
The owner can return to Shared Access to edit the person’s permissions or revoke access. Streamlabs’ documented interface and role behavior may change over time.
Choose the narrowest role that fits the work
| Role | What it is for | Security consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Moderator | Streamlabs documents Dashboard access, including the ability to skip or repeat alerts, control Media Share, and access Cloudbot. | Choose it when those tools are enough; do not assume it grants a platform chat role. |
| Custom | Select specific permissions for a narrower or less typical task. | Review each permission before sending the invitation and grant only what is needed. |
| Administrator | Broader account access than Moderator. | Streamlabs says this role includes access to platform access tokens and stream keys; donation settings and Shared Access settings are excluded. Treat those credentials as sensitive. |
Streamlabs also says shared users cannot see the settings page. These role descriptions reflect the vendor’s documentation, not a guarantee that every interface detail will remain unchanged. See Streamlabs’ Shared Access documentation.
Shared Access, chat moderator status, and Cloudbot are different
- Streamlabs Shared Access gives an invited person access to selected Streamlabs Dashboard features.
- A platform moderator role gives a person moderation status in that platform’s chat. For Twitch, Streamlabs documents assigning the role through Roles Manager or by entering
/mod USERin chat. That does not grant Streamlabs Dashboard access. See Streamlabs’ Twitch moderator guide. - Cloudbot authorization lets the Streamlabs bot act in a platform’s chat; it is not an invitation for a human to use the Dashboard. Streamlabs’ guide gives
/mod Streamlabsfor Twitch and Kick, and directs YouTube users to YouTube Studio’s Community settings to add Streamlabs as a moderator. Follow the instructions for the platform you use: Cloudbot setup guide. - Cloudbot command permissions are configured for roles such as moderators or streamers in command settings. These control who may use commands; they do not replace Shared Access or a platform role. See Streamlabs’ chat command guide.
Set up moderation tools for the task
Cloudbot moderation
Cloudbot’s documented moderation controls cover caps, symbols, links, words, paragraphs, emotes, and Zalgo text. Link Protection supports website whitelisting and a !permit <username> command for individual permission, with a configurable permit duration. These are bot controls: they do not give a human moderator access to Streamlabs or assign that person a platform role. Details are in Streamlabs’ Cloudbot Mod Tools guide, last updated July 7, 2026.

Media Share review
For Media Share, Streamlabs says a trusted person needs at least Moderator rights. The owner can review pending requests in the Dashboard’s Recent Events queue. Consider whether requests should be reviewed before display when choosing between auto-show and auto-hide behavior. See Streamlabs’ Media Sharing guide, last updated December 18, 2025.
Common access problems
- The invite link no longer works: Streamlabs documents a 72-hour expiry. The account owner should issue and share a fresh invitation.
- The invitee cannot find the shared account: Have them accept the invitation first, then use View My Access or their own Dashboard’s Shared Access > Access Account.
- The person can moderate Twitch chat but cannot use Streamlabs tools: Twitch moderator status and Streamlabs Shared Access are separate. The owner must send a Shared Access invitation.
- The person can use Streamlabs tools but is not a chat moderator: Assign the relevant role on the streaming platform as a separate step.
- Cloudbot is not moderating chat: Check that the bot has been authorized for the correct platform and that the relevant Mod Tools are configured. Bot authorization is separate from human access.
- A person needs only one specific capability: Review Custom permissions rather than granting broader account access than the task requires.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube channel live 24/7, StreamNeo is a separate service for that job—not a way to grant moderators Streamlabs access. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on.
