There are two different ways to get involved: You can watch for an invitation to YouTube’s invite-only Creator Community, which supports learning and connections among creators, or—if your channel is eligible—turn on a Community space for subscribers to talk with you and one another. The first is a YouTube program; the second is a channel feature. Neither is a public sign-up route to the other.
Choose the kind of community you want

If you want peer learning or program support, focus on the invitation route. If you want a dedicated place for viewers to discuss your videos and connect, look at the channel feature.
How to be considered for YouTube’s Creator Community
YouTube describes the Creator Community as an invite-only educational program. Its official Creator Community information says to watch your email and YouTube Studio for enrollment details. Accepted creators are contacted with next steps; the guidance does not offer a universal open application form.
What YouTube generally considers
YouTube says it generally works with active channels in regions where Community Partner Managers are available. Other general considerations include a channel’s growth potential, no Community Guidelines strikes, no more than one unresolved copyright strike, and advertiser-friendly content. Creators are also expected to behave respectfully at events and workshops.

These are considerations, not a guaranteed admission checklist. Invitations are limited, and meeting the listed considerations does not ensure an invitation. YouTube says access may be withdrawn if a creator no longer meets the criteria or violates its guidelines. Regional availability is not universal and can change.
What happens after an invitation
The program begins with a bootcamp lasting up to 12 weeks. Sessions run for 30–45 minutes weekly or every other week, and some may be prerecorded for creators who cannot attend live. The current listed tracks are YouTube Shopping, Channel Memberships, and vertical live. During intake, a Community Partner Manager reviews the creator’s content, goals, and audience behavior and assigns a suitable track; creators should not assume they can choose any track.

After graduating, participants move into the ongoing Creator Community for continued peer networking, events, and group support. A Community Partner Manager provides group strategy and learning support, not individual account management or technical troubleshooting. For account problems, use YouTube’s support resources instead.
How to turn on a Community for your channel
YouTube’s Android setup guidance says the creator needs access to posts, must be over 16, and must not have a supervised-experience channel, a channel with its audience set as made for kids, or a VEVO channel. The feature and its menus can change, and steps may differ across platforms; use YouTube’s current instructions for your device.

Start conversations viewers want to join
A channel Community works best when viewers know what it is for and have an easy way to contribute. YouTube says Community posts appear in the Community space and may also be recommended on surfaces such as Home, Subscriptions, and Watch Next. Its guidance on building a Community recommends announcing the space, posting regular conversation prompts, engaging with subscribers’ posts, and creating shared traditions or recognizing milestones.

- Welcome people and set a purpose. Explain what belongs in the space and how viewers can take part.
- Begin with a specific prompt. Ask a question connected to a recent video—for example, which moment viewers found most surprising—and invite them to share why.
- Keep the conversation going. Return to respond to subscribers, ask follow-up questions, and recognize recurring milestones or traditions.
- Tell viewers where to find it. Mention the Community in videos and other channel spaces where your audience already follows you.
Set expectations and moderate the space
Decide who can post, whether posts should be held for review, and whether trusted moderators should help. YouTube recommends taking an active role in moderation and using channel guidelines to tell viewers what kind of conversation you want. The platform’s channel-guidelines guidance puts it simply: “Your guidelines tell viewers how to communicate on your channel.”
Guidelines can ask people to be civil, stay on topic, welcome questions, and avoid spam. They do not automatically hide or remove posts or comments. YouTube’s Community Guidelines still apply to platform interactions, including comments, links, posts, and thumbnails; policy enforcement can affect channel privileges.

- Find answers: The YouTube Help Community is an official place to look for answers and updates from TeamYouTube.
- Get creator support: Eligible creators can contact Creator Support through the Help Center or YouTube Studio chat. Chat is not available to every creator.
- Learn from YouTube: YouTube for Creators and Creator Tips offer official education and guidance.
- Help other users: The YouTube Contributors program describes ways to answer questions in Help forums, support YouTube Music community members, and create explanatory videos in several languages. Its page describes the program as beta and subject to change. This is separate from the invite-only Creator Community.
