Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCopy the stream key from the stream’s settings in YouTube Studio, then enter it in the Stream Key field for XSplit Broadcaster’s YouTube output if that setup mode is available. XSplit’s current support guide confirms the YouTube-output workflow, but does not document the exact current clicks to that field, so labels and screens may vary by installed version.
Before you enter the key
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. XSplit’s YouTube guide and YouTube’s live-streaming help describe these requirements.
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open the Live Control Room. Have the intended stream or scheduled event ready so you copy the key for the correct broadcast.
- Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a stream to your channel. Don’t publish it in a screenshot, chat, or public document.
Copy the key from YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and select the stream you intend to use.
- Open the stream’s Stream settings and copy its stream key. YouTube describes stream keys as the encoder’s credential. If XSplit also asks for a server or stream URL, copy that separately from the same stream settings; the URL and key go in different fields. YouTube: Manage live stream settings
Enter the key in XSplit Broadcaster
- In XSplit Broadcaster, open Broadcast and select the YouTube output to configure it. XSplit’s setup guide also describes creating a new output from the Broadcast menu and choosing a service through its setup wizard. XSplit: Streaming to YouTube Live XSplit: Getting started with Broadcaster
- In the output’s configuration, choose a Stream Key setup mode if the installed version offers one. Paste the copied key into its Stream Key field. If the output asks for a server URL as well, paste the separate URL into the server or RTMP server field. Don’t put the key into the URL field.
- Save or apply the output configuration. Select the configured YouTube output from Broadcast to open broadcast details. Review the title, description, tags, category, privacy, latency, DVR, and other options offered before starting.
- Start the encoder. For a scheduled YouTube event, wait until the Live Control Room shows the incoming preview, then select Go live there if the event requires that separate confirmation. Starting XSplit sends the feed; it may not itself publish a scheduled event.
XSplit’s accessible current guide confirms the general YouTube output flow, but not a version-specific path to the Stream Key field. Use the field shown in your installed output configuration rather than relying on a particular menu label that may have changed.
If YouTube is missing from the Broadcast menu
Open Broadcast, choose the option to set up a new output, and look for YouTube in the service setup wizard. XSplit’s support index also lists Custom RTMP as an alternative for services without an output plugin, including a YouTube credentials guide. The exact controls depend on the installed version. XSplit Support
If you use Custom RTMP, put the server URL and stream key in their distinct fields. Prefer the YouTube RTMPS URL if that output supports RTMPS; otherwise, check YouTube’s encoder instructions and the XSplit output’s supported connection options before proceeding.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Connection, quality, and privacy checks
- Use RTMPS when supported. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection. Copy the RTMPS server URL from the Live Control Room and use it only if the selected XSplit output supports it. An encoder without RTMPS support can be a cause of connection trouble. YouTube: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- Check the encoder settings against YouTube guidance. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular XSplit configuration or network will deliver a stable stream.
- Test and monitor stream health. Confirm the preview arrives in Live Control Room and watch its stream-health indicators before relying on the broadcast.
- Check visibility before starting. Confirm the event’s privacy and other broadcast details in XSplit and YouTube. A correctly entered key does not make a private or scheduled stream public by itself.
- Protect the credential. If the key is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and replace the old key in XSplit. YouTube: Manage live stream settings
Common problems and fixes
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No YouTube output in XSplit | The output has not been added, or the installed version’s setup differs. | Use Broadcast to set up a new output and select YouTube through the wizard. If it is unavailable, check XSplit’s Custom RTMP option and YouTube credentials guidance. |
| XSplit connects but YouTube receives no feed | The key may be incorrect or placed in the server field, or the wrong stream’s key was copied. | Reopen the intended stream’s settings in YouTube Studio. Copy the key and server URL separately, then verify each is in its corresponding XSplit field. |
| Connection or security error | The selected output may not support the RTMPS URL, or the server URL may be wrong. | Check the URL and the output’s protocol support. Use RTMPS when supported; if not, consult YouTube’s encoder guidance for a supported connection method. |
| Preview appears, but the event is not live | A scheduled event may need a separate confirmation in YouTube. | Open the event in Live Control Room, confirm the preview is present, and select Go live if prompted. |
| Unexpected audience visibility or stream details | The output’s metadata or privacy setting may not match the intended event. | Review the title, description, tags, category, privacy, latency, and DVR settings before starting. |
| The key may have been exposed | Someone else may be able to use the credential. | Reset the key in YouTube Studio and update the XSplit output with the replacement. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps playing uploaded videos around the clock, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative to running XSplit on a computer: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera.
