For a compact Tamil-song library, encode source files at a lower audio bitrate only after listening to representative tracks; for the live feed, follow YouTube’s separate RTMP/RTMPS guidance: AAC or MP3, constant bitrate (CBR), 44.1 kHz stereo, and 128 kbps stereo audio. For a low-motion visual, use a modest video resolution and its matching YouTube bitrate guidance. Before going live, clear the rights for every recording and composition, check whether your channel needs to be allowlisted, and monitor stream health.
Separate the music files from the live encoder settings
There are two different encoding decisions. Your source-library bitrate determines how much storage your audio files use. Your live-ingest settings determine what your encoder sends to YouTube. A small source file does not require you to send a low-bitrate live feed: YouTube’s current live guidance recommends 128 kbps stereo audio and lists AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS.
Do not choose Opus for an RTMP/RTMPS stream merely because YouTube lists it in separate upload guidance. Uploading a video and sending a live feed are different workflows; follow the live encoder settings for the latter. YouTube also transcodes a live stream into multiple output formats for viewers, so you do not need to pre-encode separate resolutions just to supply playback variants. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and video upload encoding settings.
Choose a source bitrate without guessing at Tamil-specific quality
Lowering the source audio bitrate reduces file size, but there is no established Tamil-specific bitrate threshold that guarantees acceptable sound. Tamil describes the language and repertoire, not a technical encoding parameter. The right tradeoff depends on each recording’s quality, arrangement, and what your listeners expect. Listen to a representative mix of your songs before encoding the full library, paying attention to vocals, percussion, cymbals, and dense arrangements.

Approximate storage at two source bitrates
| Source audio bitrate | Approximate file size per hour | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 64 kbps | 28.8 MB | Smaller files; check carefully for audible loss on your material. |
| 96 kbps | 43.2 MB | More data per hour than 64 kbps; still listen before adopting it as a library preset. |
These are calculations from bitrate multiplied by time, using decimal megabytes and ignoring small container overhead; they are not published test results. For example, at 64 kbps: 64,000 bits per second × 3,600 seconds ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000,000 = 28.8 MB. FFmpeg documents bitrate options in bits per second; see its documentation.
Keep existing lossy files in mind
If your source tracks are already lossy, re-encoding them at a lower bitrate can add another quality loss. Compare the original and the proposed output on the same songs before processing the entire library. Keep originals if storage permits, especially if you may need to make a different version later.

Set the live audio and video feed
Audio
- Codec: AAC or MP3 for YouTube RTMP/RTMPS live ingest.
- Bitrate mode: CBR is YouTube’s recommended mode.
- Stereo bitrate: 128 kbps is YouTube’s recommendation for live stereo audio.
- Sample rate: 44.1 kHz is listed for stereo. YouTube’s API health guidance also names 44.1 and 48 kHz as recommended rates.
These are live-ingest recommendations, not evidence that every lower-bitrate source file must be enlarged or that doing so restores quality lost during source encoding. See the live encoder settings and YouTube Live API stream health guidance.
Video for a low-motion music stream
If the picture is a still image or changes slowly, use a modest resolution rather than transmitting a large video stream without a clear need. For H.264 at 480p30, YouTube lists 4 Mbps as the recommended video bitrate. For H.264 at 360p30, it also lists 4 Mbps, with 0.4 Mbps as the minimum. The live guide recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. These published settings do not guarantee that a particular internet connection can sustain the stream; test your actual connection and monitor its health before relying on it continuously.

Prepare a 24/7 stream to recover and preserve an archive
A long-running feed needs monitoring and a plan for reconnecting or restarting an encoder if its process or connection fails. YouTube’s API documents a continuous live feed and describes completing a separate broadcast while that feed continues. Its stream-health diagnostics can report configuration problems, including audio bitrate, sample rate, and codec issues. Review the API health documentation rather than assuming that a process will remain healthy indefinitely.
If keeping a recording matters, record locally as a backup. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need an archive or want to manage broadcasts in segments, account for that limit; YouTube’s API documentation describes completing a separate broadcast while a continuous feed carries on. See YouTube’s live stream archive guidance and the continuous-feed API documentation.

Clear music rights before encoding and going live
Encoding does not grant permission to stream a song. YouTube’s live-stream terms make the provider responsible for securing the necessary rights to exploit live content, including music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other participants. Confirm that your permission covers both the composition and the particular sound recording, your territories, and continuous live use. YouTube’s Terms of Service set out the provider’s responsibilities.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may replace a feed with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even if you have a licence, the rights owner may need to add your channel to an allowlist for the stream to avoid interruption. Check the live-stream copyright guidance and arrange any required allowlisting with the rights owner before starting.

Permission and monetization are separate questions
Having permission does not guarantee that a channel or stream qualifies for monetization. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams and says highly repetitive or mass-produced content can be ineligible; its examples include collections of songs from different artists, even where the uploader has permission. Creator Music is not a workaround for a live music feed: YouTube says those tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams. Check YouTube channel monetization policies and Creator Music eligibility and usage terms.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel built from uploaded recordings, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
