The safest public desktop download is the creator Ferdafs’s itch.io page—not a torrent, APK mirror, “cracked” copy or shortened link.
The creator’s page does not identify the game as an official Adult Swim or Warner Bros. release. Download only from Ferdafs’s itch.io game page, and check the version and file name there immediately before downloading.
What the game is
Rick and Morty – A way back home is an in-development adult fan game made with Unity. Ferdafs’s page lists Windows, macOS and Linux builds, along with an HTML5 listing. In creator comments, Ferdafs says browser support has not been maintained because the game became too large for browsers, so a desktop build is the practical current option.
The public desktop release is offered free through the itch.io page. Patreon supporters may receive earlier releases and access to an Android edition, but those are separate from the public desktop download.

Latest public release and legitimate files
The creator’s itch.io listing currently shows v4_3, released June 4, 2026. Patreon builds may appear earlier; a higher version number on an unrelated website is not evidence that the file is genuine.

Names and sizes can change with a later release. Confirm the current listing before you start the download.

How to verify the download source
- The address begins with
ferdafs.itch.ioand the page identifies Ferdafs as author. - The version and filename match the current itch.io listing or the creator’s devlog.
- You avoid pages advertising “latest APK,” torrents, cracked or unlocked copies, shortened links, or replacement DLLs.
- You keep antivirus and operating-system protections enabled. Hosting on itch.io reduces the chance of a counterfeit download but is not a guarantee that an executable is harmless.
Ferdafs has warned that comments claiming to provide a newer version can be scams. The creator’s stated legitimate channels are itch.io and, for early releases or supporter content, Patreon.
Windows installation
Use the installer
- Open the creator’s game page and use its current Download button. If itch.io requests an account for a particular action, follow the site’s current sign-in prompt.
- Select
rickamdmorty_setup.exeand let the approximately 1.6 GB download finish. - Open the file and follow the installer prompts. Choose a drive with substantially more free space than the compressed download requires, because installation creates additional files.
- Launch the installed game from the Start menu, shortcut or installation folder.
Windows SmartScreen or security software may show an unknown-publisher or reputation warning because this is independently distributed software. Verify the source and scan the file before deciding. If the alert identifies malware—not merely an unfamiliar publisher—do not run it and do not disable protection.

Extract the Windows archive instead
- Download
PC.rar. - Extract it with a current RAR utility. Ferdafs recommends 7-Zip for Windows.
- Open the extracted folder and run the game executable. Do not launch files while they are still inside the archive.
The archive route is useful if you want to choose the folder yourself or the installer fails, but it still needs considerable storage for extraction.
macOS installation
- Download
RM_4_3MAC.zipfrom the creator’s itch.io page. - Wait for the approximately 2.1 GB archive to finish, then double-click it in Finder.
- Open the extracted folder and launch the application.
- If macOS reports an unidentified developer, first confirm that the file came from Ferdafs’s page before using the system’s permitted-app controls.
The listing does not specify a minimum macOS version, Apple Silicon support or an exact compatibility matrix. If the app immediately quits, check your macOS version and CPU architecture and consult the creator’s current comments or devlog rather than downloading an unofficial “fix.”

Linux installation
- Download
Linux.rar. - Extract it with a RAR-compatible utility.
- Open the extracted directory in a terminal and identify the actual executable filename; the creator does not publish the internal file structure.
- If required, grant execute permission:
chmod +x ./GAME_EXECUTABLE - Run it with
./GAME_EXECUTABLE.
Replace GAME_EXECUTABLE with the filename you find after extraction. Running from a terminal keeps error messages visible. The creator lists Linux support but does not provide distribution-specific dependency requirements, so missing libraries may require your distribution’s normal package tools.
Android availability
In creator comments, Ferdafs says an Android version is available to Patreon supporters rather than as the free public itch.io download. Do not install random APKs claiming to be the newest edition. If you want Android access or early builds, use only Ferdafs’s Patreon page and check its current membership terms.

Fixes for common problems
The archive will not extract
- Compare the downloaded size with the listing and re-download if it is incomplete.
- Use a current extractor such as 7-Zip on Windows.
- Ensure there is substantially more free storage than the compressed file size.
- Do not use a mirror’s “repair,” “unlock” or replacement download.
The game will not launch
- Confirm that you downloaded the build for your operating system.
- Extract the entire archive before launching.
- On Linux, check execute permission and run the program in a terminal.
- On macOS, review the blocked-app message after verifying the source.
- Re-download if the archive is corrupt and check the creator’s comments or devlog for release-specific issues.
A freeze or bug appears
Version 4_3 is still an in-development release; its public devlog includes a user report of a freeze during a mission. Save regularly where the game allows it, check the v4_3 release post and avoid unofficial patches.
Is it free, official and finished?
The public Windows, macOS and Linux release is offered free on Ferdafs’s itch.io page. Patreon support is optional for the public desktop build and may provide early updates or Android access.
The game is in development, so content and compatibility can change and bugs are possible. Ferdafs’s page identifies the creator but does not present the project as an official licensed Adult Swim, Warner Bros. or studio production.
Where to check for updates
Use the creator’s itch.io game page for the current public files, the devlog for release announcements, and Ferdafs’s itch.io profile for creator posts. Those sources are more reliable than a search result or comment claiming to host a newer build.
