Hotstar is now JioHotstar
The current iPhone and iPad app is branded JioHotstar and is supplied by JIOSTAR INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED. Older instructions may refer to Hotstar or Disney+ Hotstar, so their labels and screens may not match the current app. The service’s terms are still available on the Hotstar domain.

Check iPhone and iPad compatibility
The India App Store listing specifies iOS 15.0 or later for iPhone and iPadOS 15.0 or later for iPad. Requirements can change with app updates. The listing promotes TATA IPL 2026 and cricket highlights, but that does not guarantee every match replay or highlight remains available indefinitely.

Catalogues and sports rights can differ by country. If you are outside India, check the JioHotstar listing and content availability for your App Store region; do not assume the India catalogue or subscription options apply where you live.

How to check for an official offline download
- Open the App Store, search for JioHotstar, and confirm the developer is JIOSTAR INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED. Install or update the app.
- Sign in to an account with access to the title. Search for IPL 2026, the teams, or the match date, then open the official highlight video.
- Look on that title’s page for a Download, downward-arrow, or Watch Offline control. Do not assume it exists for every highlight.
- If the app offers a download, choose a quality if prompted and wait for it to finish. Find the item in the app’s Downloads or Offline area and play it there.
- If there is no download control, the app is not offering official offline access to that title for your account, device, and region. There is no supported substitute for exporting it as a video file.
An official offline copy is normally tied to the app, account, device, and licence conditions. It should not be expected to appear as an ordinary MP4 in Photos or Files or to play in a separate video player.

What “free” means
The App Store listing labels JioHotstar “Free · In-App Purchases.” That means installing the app costs nothing; it does not establish that every IPL highlight streams or downloads free. Availability depends on the title, region, account, and current entitlement.

The India App Store listing showed subscription options when checked on August 18, 2026, including Mobile Monthly ₹79, Mobile 3 Months ₹149, Super Monthly ₹149, Super 3 Months ₹349, Premium Monthly ₹299, Premium 3 Months ₹699, Super Annual ₹1,099, and Premium Annual ₹2,199. These are region- and date-sensitive listing prices, not permanent or universal rates. The app listing does not promise that a subscription provides an exportable video file.

If the Download option is missing or will not start
- Confirm you installed the official App Store app, then update JioHotstar and iOS or iPadOS.
- Open the specific highlight’s page, rather than a live stream or embedded clip. Search by team names, match number, or date if needed.
- Check that the title is available in your region and that your account has the required subscription or promotional entitlement.
- Check available device storage. For a download that will not start, try Wi‑Fi and temporarily disable Low Data Mode.
- Sign out and back in, then restart the app and device.
If the control remains absent, the title may not support offline access for that account or territory, or its rights window may have ended. Do not reinstall the app as a troubleshooting shortcut if you have existing offline items; reinstalling can remove app data and those copies.
Why an offline item can disappear
App-controlled offline access is not permanent ownership. A title may stop working or disappear because its licence expires, it leaves the catalogue, account entitlements change, a device limit applies, the app changes, regional rights differ, or the service requires periodic online verification. Do not assume an offline copy can be shared or kept after access ends.

Why third-party downloaders and screen recording are not a reliable answer
Do not give your JioHotstar login to a downloader site or install modified apps that claim to save protected streams. Such tools can expose credentials, deliver malware or misleading download buttons, fail unpredictably, and raise copyright or service-terms concerns. JioStar has described anti-piracy enforcement against unauthorized distribution of its sports coverage.

iPhone and iPad screen recording is not a dependable way to obtain a playable copy: streaming services may block recording, resulting in a black picture or missing audio. Recording or redistributing copyrighted sports footage may also violate applicable law or service terms. Use the app’s official viewing or sharing options; do not try to bypass playback protections.
Can a Jio recharge help with access?
Jio’s offer terms describe a limited-period JioHotstar Mobile subscription benefit for eligible Jio subscribers on qualifying plans, including plans priced at ₹349 or more with at least 2 GB of data per day, subject to the terms. The offer page says to sign in to JioHotstar with the same Jio number and notes that the offer may be extended or discontinued. This is a possible way to obtain viewing access, not evidence of free offline access to every highlight or a way to export video files.
