A continuous stream needs active monitoring and a recovery plan: YouTube’s documentation does not establish a maximum event duration or guarantee uninterrupted operation.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Confirm eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing a long-running broadcast. YouTube lists encoder streaming as a supported way to go live. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
Clear the recordings and artwork before you build the stream
Make sure you have permission to use every element in the program: music, spoken prayers or meditations, artwork, photographs, and any other audio or visual material. Keep records of the permissions and their scope, including whether they cover a continuous livestream on YouTube.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder, interruption, or termination. A license alone may not prevent this: the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. If you use licensed material, ask the rights holder about allowlisting and get it completed before going live. YouTube says Content ID claims on an archived live stream are made after the stream ends if you choose to archive it. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

Assemble a continuous program and visual
Arrange the recordings in the order you want viewers to hear them, and decide how the sequence should repeat. Use a simple, calm scene, such as a still or slowly changing prayer or meditation visual, with a readable stream title. Ensure that the visual itself is also cleared for use.
For this prepared prerecorded program, use an encoder on a computer to send the scene and audio to YouTube Live. YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for setups that use overlays or external hardware; that does not mean YouTube itself provides a native looping playlist feature. Connect the encoder to YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and open its stream settings.
- Copy the RTMPS server address and stream key displayed for that stream into the corresponding encoder fields. Use the details shown in Studio rather than a server address or key from another broadcast.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Configure the encoder to use RTMPS. Google recommends RTMPS for ordinary live streams; it is RTMP over SSL, and Google’s technical documentation specifies port 443. Google for Developers: RTMPS ingestion and YouTube Help: Encoder settings.
Choose settings your connection can sustain
YouTube’s encoding guidance recommends the settings below. They are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that your particular encoder, computer, or internet connection can maintain a stable broadcast.

Use a lower resolution or frame rate if your upload connection cannot reliably sustain the video bitrate plus audio and network overhead. YouTube advises matching settings to the available upload connection, testing before launch, and watching stream-health indicators. Find current guidance in YouTube’s encoder settings.

Rehearse before making the broadcast public
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal where possible, with the same playback sequence and audio path you plan to use for the public stream.
- Check that the visual and audio are present, levels are suitable, the playlist advances and loops as intended, and the encoder is sending to the intended stream.
- Watch YouTube Studio’s stream-health messages during the test. Address warnings before relying on the setup for a continuous broadcast.
- Decide whether to archive the broadcast. YouTube’s guidance notes that Content ID claims on an archived live stream are made after it ends if archiving is enabled. The available guidance does not establish how long a very long event can be archived or whether a particular 24/7 broadcast will be preserved in full.
Plan for drops, restarts, and long runtimes
A local encoder workflow depends on the computer, encoder, power, playback source, and internet connection continuing to work. OBS notes that increasing dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Check encoder status and YouTube stream health, decide who will notice an outage, and document how to restart or repair the broadcast. OBS: Dropped frames and connection stability.
The reviewed YouTube documentation does not establish a maximum duration for one live event, how a very long event is archived, or what restart and reconnect behavior to expect after an outage. Check the current YouTube Studio workflow and help guidance before planning around a specific event length or promising uninterrupted service.
