You can run a 24/7 Telugu devotional music stream with OBS by preparing a rights-cleared playlist, connecting OBS to an encoder broadcast in YouTube Studio, and using settings your internet connection can sustain continuously. Before going live, verify that the channel is eligible, test the full audio-and-video loop, and decide how you will preserve recordings: YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured in its archive.
Before you set up OBS: check channel eligibility and music rights
Confirm YouTube live-stream access
YouTube’s live-stream guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. The minimum age to live stream is 16. Check that live streaming is available for your channel before building the broadcast around it; eligibility details are in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Clear the exact recordings in your playlist
Make an inventory of each composition and recording you plan to use, and confirm that you have the rights needed to stream each one. A devotional theme or traditional composition does not automatically make a particular modern performance or recording free to use. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can interrupt a broadcast. Even with a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music during a live stream: YouTube for Artists resources.
Do not treat a successful test or an initially uninterrupted broadcast as proof that every track is cleared. Resolve rights for the actual recordings before making the stream public.

Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio
-
Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Create > Go Live. Choose the encoder workflow to create or schedule the broadcast.
-
Open the stream’s settings and copy the server URL and stream key. The key works like a password: keep it private, do not show it in a screenshot or on the stream, and reset it if exposed.
-
Set the broadcast’s title, visibility, and any scheduling details in Studio. Use an accurate title and description for the Telugu devotional program; do not imply that recordings are live performances if they are prerecorded.
YouTube’s current encoder workflow, including preview and starting the broadcast, is documented at Set up your encoder for live streaming.

Connect OBS and build the devotional scene
-
Open OBS and go to Settings > Stream. If YouTube is available in the service list, select it and connect the account or enter the stream key as prompted. Otherwise select a custom streaming service and enter the server URL and key copied from YouTube Studio.
-
Create a scene for the stream. Add a suitable still image or visual loop and add the authorized audio source. Check that the image fits the canvas, the audio is audible without clipping, and no private information or stream key appears on screen.
-
In Settings > Output, configure the video encoder and bitrate. In Settings > Video, choose the output resolution and frame rate. Match these choices to what your connection and computer can maintain, rather than selecting the highest available values automatically.
-
In Settings > Audio, confirm the intended output device and sample rate, then monitor the mixer while the music plays. Keep an eye out for muted sources, unexpected desktop audio, and audio that peaks into distortion.

Choose stream settings your connection can sustain
For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, YouTube’s current encoder guidance gives a recommended bitrate range of 5–14 Mbps. That is a recommendation for that output format, not a universal minimum. A static devotional visual may not need 1080p30; lower resolution or bitrate can be a sensible choice if it is more stable for a continuous broadcast.
YouTube also recommends keeping about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, a 5 Mbps stream calls for roughly 6.25 Mbps of available upload capacity to preserve that margin. Account for other devices and traffic sharing the connection, and test at the time of day you expect to stream.
- Resolution and frame rate: choose a format suitable for the visual material and sustainable for the encoder and connection.
- Bitrate: stay within YouTube’s recommended range for the selected format, while leaving the recommended upload headroom.
- Keyframe interval and codec: follow YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for the chosen output and encoder; check Studio’s stream-health feedback rather than assuming one configuration works for every setup.
Consult YouTube’s recommended encoder settings and network guidance for the current tables and test advice.

Test the complete loop, then go live
-
Start streaming from OBS and wait for YouTube Studio to receive the signal and show its preview.
-
Listen to the preview and inspect the image. Confirm the correct playlist source is playing, the sound is clean, the picture is visible, and no unintended content is being captured.
-
Check YouTube Studio’s stream-health indicators and address warnings before making the stream public. Watch for dropped frames, unstable upload, or audio problems.
-
When the preview and health check are satisfactory, use the Studio control to go live if the scheduled encoder workflow requires it. Keep OBS and the network connection running for as long as this DIY setup is responsible for the broadcast.

Plan for continuity and recordings
A computer-based OBS stream depends on the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection remaining available. A power interruption, system restart, OBS crash, network drop, or YouTube interruption can break continuity; plan who will monitor the setup and how it will be restarted.
Do not rely on YouTube as the only archive for a 24/7 broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. For an archive, plan separate sessions under 12 hours and make a local recording backup. Before relying on it, verify that the local recording is growing and that a sample file plays correctly. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
| Operating choice | What it changes | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| One continuous stream | Offers uninterrupted programming, but a session longer than 12 hours may not be captured in YouTube’s archive. | Live continuity matters more than the YouTube replay, and you have a separate recording plan. |
| Separate sessions under 12 hours | Creates planned restart points and better fits YouTube’s automatic-archive guidance. | You want a more dependable YouTube archive and can schedule monitoring and restarts. |
Troubleshoot common OBS and YouTube problems
YouTube Studio is not receiving the OBS signal
- Check that OBS is using the right service or custom server URL and that the stream key belongs to the broadcast currently open in Studio.
- Confirm that OBS is actively streaming and the computer has an internet connection. If a key may have been exposed, reset it in Studio and update OBS.
The stream is unstable or drops frames
- Reduce bitrate or output resolution, then test again. Check whether other household or office traffic is consuming upload bandwidth.
- Leave the recommended upload headroom rather than setting the stream bitrate equal to the connection’s advertised maximum. Use YouTube’s stream-health feedback to check whether the revised settings are stable.
Audio is silent, distorted, or doubled
- Check the OBS mixer for muted sources and confirm the intended audio device in OBS settings.
- Listen to the Studio preview and check whether the same music is being captured through two sources. Lower a source that clips, then repeat the full test.
A broadcast is interrupted after a music match
- Stop using the matched recording until you have confirmed the rights for that exact recording and composition.
- If licensed, contact the rights holder or distributor about adding your channel to the Content ID allowlist. A license does not necessarily prevent automated interruption without that step.
The YouTube replay is missing or incomplete
Check whether the session exceeded 12 hours, since YouTube warns that longer streams may not be captured at all. For future broadcasts, use planned sessions under 12 hours when the platform archive matters, and verify a local recording rather than assuming the archive is complete.
