To create a 24/7 cozy cabin ambience stream on YouTube, make a cabin scene and rain soundtrack you own or are licensed to use, send them through an encoder such as OBS to a YouTube live stream, and arrange reliable continuous operation. Before going live, check rights and audio, test the feed, and decide how you will handle interruptions and archives: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Plan a scene you can stream and legally use
Start with the two parts viewers will experience: the cabin image and the rain audio. Use material you created, or obtain permission that covers both the live broadcast and any archive YouTube creates. A license to use a recording in some contexts does not necessarily establish that it is cleared for a YouTube livestream or its archive.
Build a distinct ambience
Create or commission a cabin image or animation, and make or license a rain sound bed. Consider whether subtle motion, a fireplace, or small changes in the scene genuinely improve the viewing experience. Keep the loop seam unobtrusive: listen across the transition and check that it does not introduce a click, sudden volume change, or visible jump.
Keep a rights record
Save source files, receipts, written permissions, and any confirmation that a rights owner has allowlisted your channel through Content ID. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the video with a placeholder, issue a warning, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the issue continues. Even licensed material may need the owner to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist (YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams).

YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for the necessary rights on the creator, including rights for music and other participants, and for exploitation of live content on Google services worldwide (YouTube Livestream terms and conditions).
Make sure the channel can go live
YouTube’s encoder workflow requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check the channel’s eligibility before building a continuous broadcast. You can create a stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then connect an encoder using the stream key YouTube provides (YouTube Help: Create a live stream with an encoder).

Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
OBS is a practical, no-license-cost encoder starting point. OBS says it is free for any reason, including commercial use, under the GPLv2 license (OBS Help). That does not guarantee a particular computer or network will remain stable indefinitely; test the setup on the actual system you plan to use.
- Create or schedule the broadcast: In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to reach Live Control Room. Choose the encoder stream option and create or schedule the stream. Copy the stream key and server/stream URL shown there; keep the key private because it allows an encoder to send video to your broadcast.
- Build the OBS scene: In OBS, add an image or video source for the cabin visual and an audio source for the rain. Arrange and size the visual in the preview, then add only titles or motion that support the scene. Confirm that the rain source is audible and does not clip or become unexpectedly silent when it loops.
- Set the output: Match the encoder’s resolution and frame rate to the source and to a stable connection, rather than choosing the largest values automatically. YouTube’s stream setup provides the applicable configuration guidance; use its current recommendations for bitrate, keyframes, and encoder settings for the chosen resolution (YouTube Help: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions). YouTube’s guidance does not establish a single bitrate or hardware specification suitable for every cabin scene and connection.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details: In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube if available, and enter the stream key supplied in Live Control Room. If using a custom server connection, copy the server URL and key exactly from YouTube. Never publish or share the key.
- Test before the public broadcast: Run a private or unlisted check, inspect the Live Control Room preview, and listen for loop seams, distorted audio, silence, or dropped frames. Check the outgoing picture and sound, not only the OBS preview.
- Start the stream: Start streaming in OBS, then verify in Live Control Room that YouTube receives the feed and that the stream is live. A running encoder by itself does not confirm that the YouTube broadcast is healthy.
Plan for continuous operation and recovery
A 24/7 stream has to keep sending a feed, not merely have a scene prepared. With a self-hosted encoder, the computer, power, software, and network connection must remain available. Set up a way to notice if the broadcast stops, and know how you will reconnect the encoder and verify the stream in Live Control Room. YouTube can interrupt live video when it detects third-party content, so a stable connection alone cannot prevent every interruption.

Before committing to a long run, test the actual scene and sound over a representative period. This is practical advice, not a YouTube-prescribed test duration or a promise of uptime. Check that the visual and audio loop continuously, OBS remains responsive, and the stream is still receiving data in Live Control Room.
Decide what should happen to the archive
Do not assume one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will become a complete replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all (YouTube Help: Create a live stream archive).

- If preserving a replay matters, keep a local recording and make sure you have enough storage for it. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup; an external drive is optional, not a required product or specified capacity.
- If you need YouTube archives, plan broadcast sessions around the under-12-hour guidance rather than treating a single endless broadcast as a guaranteed archive.
- Decide whether the stream should be public, unlisted, or private while you test. Confirm the intended visibility before the actual broadcast.
Understand the monetization risk of looped ambience
Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate questions. You may have the right to stream a sound recording and still need to show that the channel’s content is original and authentic under YouTube’s monetization rules. YouTube’s July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content”; it says repetitive or mass-produced content remains ineligible under the existing originality and authenticity rules, and that “video” includes livestreaming (YouTube channel monetization policies).
A loop is not automatically disqualified, but no particular cabin-and-rain format is guaranteed to qualify for the YouTube Partner Program. Make your creative contribution evident in the scene design, sound work, channel presentation, and metadata. Avoid simply republishing generic stock or copied footage, and do not mistake a license or Content ID allowlist for a monetization decision.
