To run a 24/7 ASMR keyboard channel on YouTube, make original keyboard recordings, assemble them into a playlist, and send the playlist to YouTube Live through an encoder using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. The playback can run on a computer you keep online or through a cloud playout service. Neither route guarantees audience growth or monetization; rights, stream monitoring, and YouTube’s originality rules matter as much as the setup.
1. Build a library of keyboard recordings you can describe accurately
Record distinct sessions using keyboards and sounds you own or are authorized to use. Label each file with useful production details—for example, the keyboard or switch configuration and the recording conditions—so you can choose clips deliberately and describe them honestly to viewers.
There is no established best keyboard, switch type, microphone, or recording technique for this project. Choose a mechanical keyboard based on the sound you want, then listen to your own sample recordings before committing to a larger library. Treat that as a personal sound choice, not a tested equipment recommendation.
Use visuals you made or have permission to broadcast. Keep original master files and backups; you may need them to rebuild a playlist or preserve an archive independently of YouTube.

2. Arrange the videos into a playlist with meaningful variation
Start with one prepared video or arrange several clips into a sequence. Give viewers a reason to stay beyond an identical loop: vary the keyboard sound, performance, pacing, or visual presentation where that reflects real differences in your recordings. Label the videos and stream so the description accurately reflects what is playing.
Do not assume that repeating a video continuously makes a channel eligible for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy applies to live streams and requires original, authentic content; repetitive, generic, or mass-produced work may be ineligible. The policy’s July 15, 2025 wording update renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content.” YouTube assesses eligibility at channel review, so a distinctive playlist is not a guarantee of approval.

3. Clear rights before broadcasting
Use your own recordings and visuals, or get permission that specifically covers live broadcast and any archived version. A purchase, credit line, or generic license does not by itself establish that you have every right needed for those uses. YouTube’s livestream terms say content providers represent that they hold the necessary rights for live content, including applicable music rights.
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, trigger a warning, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even if you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; otherwise the stream can still be interrupted. Resolve that with the rights owner before going live rather than assuming a license prevents automated claims.

4. Connect the playlist to YouTube Live
- Create or schedule the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Review its title, description, visibility, and other stream settings before you start.
- Copy the encoder details. Get the stream URL and stream key shown in the Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes connecting an encoder with those details.
- Configure your playback method. Put the URL and key into the encoder or playout service you have chosen, then select the prepared video or playlist. The exact controls differ by encoder; no specific OBS workflow or setting is established here.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset or replace it in YouTube Studio before relying on it again. YouTube documents the key and reusable stream settings in its stream settings help.
- Check the live dashboard. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed and watch the Live Control Room for stream-health information and policy warnings. Do not treat a successful initial connection as proof that the broadcast will run unattended indefinitely.
5. Choose where the 24/7 playlist runs

A local setup keeps playback under your direct control, but a computer, power, or network failure can stop the feed. Cloud playout can run the playlist on remote servers without keeping your computer on, but vendor descriptions are not independent reliability tests. Review the service’s current terms and capabilities rather than assuming all cloud services behave alike.
6. Decide whether you need a YouTube archive
An always-on viewing experience and a durable video-on-demand archive are separate goals. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. The platform also notes that DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable on very long streams. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.

If preserving a complete recording matters, keep a local master or recording rather than depending on the archive of a continuous stream. You can also plan shorter broadcasts if having an archived replay is important, while keeping in mind that YouTube’s stated archive guidance is not a guarantee for every stream.

- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: Check that the encoder has the stream URL and key from the intended Live Control Room broadcast. Confirm the stream is configured and started at both ends, and replace a key that may have been exposed.
- The stream stops or shows a copyright warning: Check YouTube’s live dashboard and identify the matched material. Remove or replace it, or resolve the rights issue with the owner. If material is licensed, confirm whether the owner must allowlist your channel in Content ID.
- The local stream stops when you leave: A local encoder depends on its computer, power, and network remaining available. Restore those dependencies or move playlist playback to a cloud service after checking its current recovery and monitoring features.
- A long broadcast has no complete replay: YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours, and DVR may be limited on very long streams. Preserve a separate recording or plan a shorter broadcast when the archive is important.
- The channel is not approved for monetization: Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are different questions. Review YouTube’s originality and inauthentic-content rules; permission to use media does not by itself establish that a channel meets its reused-content or originality requirements.
8. Understand monetization without counting on it
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as live monetization features, subject to channel and feature eligibility. Its live monetization guidance says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. A 24/7 broadcast does not guarantee ads, revenue, YouTube Partner Program entry, or watch-hour eligibility.
