There is no reliable India-wide earnings figure for a 24/7 YouTube stream. To find out whether ads or memberships earn more for your channel, compare the revenue YouTube actually attributes to each category over the same dates, then show the audience and member context behind those totals. YouTube’s published revenue shares—55% for Watch Page ads and 70% for memberships—are terms for different revenue pools, not a forecast of which will pay more.
What counts as ad revenue and membership revenue?
Watch Page ads and Premium
Ads on eligible live-stream videos fall under Watch Page monetization. To earn Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form or live-stream videos, including eligible embedded playback, a creator must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube describes live-stream advertising as a way to get ad revenue from live streams: YouTube Help: Choose how you want to monetize and YouTube Help: live-stream monetization.
For a precise comparison, keep YouTube Premium revenue separate from advertising. Premium revenue comes from eligible content watched by Premium subscribers; it is not ad revenue, even though it is covered by the Watch Page module. YouTube Studio’s category-level figures are more useful than a single combined total if the question is specifically ads versus memberships.
Channel memberships
Memberships are recurring monthly payments in exchange for perks the creator offers. They are a separate revenue category under the Commerce Product Module. Do not fold Super Chat, Super Stickers, or other fan-funding income into memberships: those are separate features and should be reported separately if relevant.

Why the published percentages do not settle the comparison
YouTube’s earnings overview states a 55% creator share of net revenue from Watch Page ads and a 70% creator share of net revenue from channel memberships under their respective modules: YouTube partner earnings overview. These percentages apply to different underlying revenue categories. They do not tell you how many ads will be served, how many viewers will be eligible to see them, how many people will become paying members, or how long members will stay.
Compare what YouTube actually attributes to each category, not the percentages alone or gross viewer spending. YouTube also states that the Partner Agreement makes no guarantees about how much, or whether, a creator will be paid.

How to compare your own stream fairly
- Choose one reporting window. Use identical start and end dates for ads and memberships, and state the duration. A month is convenient for recurring memberships, but the appropriate window depends on your stream’s history. Avoid treating one unusually strong day or a short event as a typical month.
- Read category-level revenue in YouTube Studio. Record Watch Page ad revenue and channel-membership revenue as separate totals for that window. If you include YouTube Premium, label it separately rather than calling it advertising. Keep Super Chat, Super Stickers, and any other fan-funding categories out of the membership total.
- Record the context for Watch Page ads. Include available eligible-viewing or ad-delivery information alongside ad revenue. Audience location and ad eligibility can affect results; an always-on schedule by itself does not establish ad fill or earnings.
- Record the membership context. Show the number of paying members and changes in the member base during the same dates, such as joins and cancellations where available. This helps distinguish a revenue change caused by member growth or loss from one caused by other factors.
- State definitions and currency. Make clear whether the figures are creator revenue or gross viewer spend, which categories are included, the reporting dates, and the currency shown in Studio.
- Check more than one period. Compare several matched windows before drawing a conclusion. Revenue and audience behavior can vary; neither one period nor the stream’s continuous schedule establishes a dependable forecast.

Eligibility and India-specific checks
The standard ad-revenue route shown in YouTube’s help documentation is 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the previous 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. YouTube notes that feature-specific requirements also apply. Check the channel’s current access and accepted modules in YouTube Studio’s Earn area rather than assuming a general YPP threshold means every feature is enabled: YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility, Overview of the expanded YouTube Partner Programme, and How to earn money on YouTube.
Feature access can depend on program criteria and country availability. The cited YouTube documentation does not establish a universal India-specific RPM for always-on live streams, so do not apply a generic India rate to your channel or infer that a feature is available to every India-based creator. Verify the features shown for your channel in Studio. YouTube’s documentation also describes announced YPP changes scheduled to begin on 1 February 2027; those are future changes, not the current thresholds stated above.

What a 24/7 schedule can—and cannot—tell you
An always-on schedule tells you that the stream is available continuously; it does not establish how many viewers will watch, where they are, whether they are eligible to receive ads, how many ads will be delivered, or whether viewers will join and remain members. Those outcomes require channel-level data. The reviewed official guidance does not provide a universal India RPM, expected membership conversion rate, or earnings estimate for an always-on stream. Your matched-period Studio figures are the sound basis for comparing your own results, not a guarantee of future earnings.
