YouTube documents event scheduling and stream setup, but its Studio tools are not documented as a native control for automatically rotating a seven-day playlist into a livestream.
Choose how the seven-day rotation will appear to viewers
First decide whether the week is made up of seven separate live events or one continuous livestream. This is a production choice: YouTube supports scheduled live events and encoder feeds, but does not prescribe a particular rotation workflow.
| Decision | Seven scheduled broadcasts | One continuous feed |
|---|---|---|
| Event setup | Schedule an event for each slot; reuse settings where appropriate. YouTube Help | Configure an ongoing encoder feed. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not prescribe rotation software. YouTube Help |
| Audience reminders | Promote each event; viewers can opt into reminders. YouTube Help | Communicate the recurring timetable and current content; do not assume viewers will receive separate daily event reminders. YouTube Help |
| Video order | Set the intended video in the external playback and encoder workflow for each event. | The production system must advance through and repeat the seven-video sequence. |
| Archives | YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. YouTube Help | The cited guidance does not establish archive behavior for a continuous seven-day stream; verify current guidance before relying on an archive. |
| Operations | Prepare and check multiple events. | Monitor a continuous feed and plan for recovery. YouTube recommends monitoring stream quality. YouTube Help |
Separate events give each day its own scheduled watch page and event-specific reminder opportunity. A continuous feed avoids setting up a new event for every slot, but requires your playback workflow to keep running and advance the sequence correctly. Consider how viewers will find the current day’s program, whether you want separate archives, and how much ongoing monitoring you can provide.
Build the weekly schedule
- Set the seven slots. Choose the weekday, start time, and timezone for each video. Decide whether the schedule includes breaks and how viewers should interpret them.
- Assign each video. Record a stable file name or identifier, title, description, expected duration, and rights status for every day.
- Assign responsibility. Name the person who will update the timetable, check the feed, and communicate changes. YouTube advises creators to choose a sustainable cadence and tell viewers when schedules change. Its guidance says, “A consistent, sustainable release schedule is critical when building and fulfilling audience expectations and maintaining your well-being.” YouTube Help: Upload schedule tips — Live
- Publish the timetable. Put the days, start times, timezone, and planned breaks somewhere viewers can easily find, and announce changes clearly.
Schedule the live events in YouTube Studio
For seven individual daily events, use YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Labels can change, so check YouTube’s current help if the interface differs.

- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule Stream.
- Create a new stream for the first slot, or choose to reuse settings from a previous stream.
- Set the event details for that day’s video and select the planned date and time. Keep each day’s title and description accurate to its assigned program.
- Repeat for the remaining six slots, checking dates, timezone, visibility, and content assignment as you go.
- Share the scheduled watch pages with viewers and explain where to find the complete weekly timetable.
YouTube’s Reuse settings option copies metadata, settings, and the stream key from a previous stream. It can reduce repeated setup, but it is not a recurring calendar or a video-rotation feature. Check copied titles, descriptions, and other event details before scheduling each broadcast. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings
Use the API if you need programmatic event setup
For a workflow managed in code, Google’s YouTube Live Streaming API describes a pattern for a series of broadcasts: configure a reusable liveStream, create multiple liveBroadcast resources, bind each broadcast to that stream, then transition each event when it is due. Each broadcast remains a distinct event with its own video content. The API documentation describes event and stream resources; it does not document automatic seven-day media rotation. Prepare the video feed and encoder workflow
A scheduled event is not the video itself. An encoder-based workflow sends the video feed to YouTube. Your chosen playback setup must select the correct file for each slot—or advance through the seven files and start again after day seven for a continuous feed. YouTube’s guidance lists encoder options, but does not establish that a YouTube playlist can be used directly as a live input or identify one specific rotation application as required. Verify your playback and encoder setup before announcing an automated rotation. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
YouTube provides guidance on encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions, but the appropriate values depend on the output you are sending. Set the encoder to match your actual video and consult the current recommendations rather than assuming one bitrate or resolution fits every rotation. Test and monitor before relying on the schedule
- Confirm that the intended event is scheduled for the correct time and can be opened by viewers.
- Check the Live Control Room preview before the event begins.
- Verify that the correct video plays, with working picture and audio, and that the playback workflow follows the planned order.
- For a continuous rotation, observe a transition between videos and confirm the sequence returns to day one after day seven.
- Monitor stream health during the broadcast and have a response plan if the feed or connection is interrupted.
YouTube recommends testing before an event and monitoring the stream. A schedule is not proof that the video feed is playing correctly; test the production workflow as well as the event setup. YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
Plan archives for the format you choose
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a single continuous seven-day stream will be archived in the same way. If you need dependable daily replays, separate events may suit that goal better; confirm YouTube’s current archive guidance before basing an archive plan on a longer continuous feed. Keep rights and program details in the schedule
For each file, record who owns or licensed the video and audio and whether the planned use is permitted. A repeating schedule does not itself establish that you have rights to rebroadcast the material. Keep the stream title and description representative of what viewers will actually see, and correct them when a day’s program changes.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel built around uploaded prerecorded videos, StreamNeo keeps the stream running from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded files as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube, not from a live camera. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
