To run a 24/7 devotional stream with a different playlist each day, prepare and label the daily video playlists, then use an encoder or a hosted scheduling service to feed the selected content to YouTube Live. Playlists organize the material; they do not, by themselves, create an always-on broadcast or switch it on a daily timetable. Plan the transitions, archive settings, and music permissions before going live.
How the parts fit together
Think of the setup as two connected systems: a content library and a live delivery workflow. Your playlists hold the devotional videos in the order you want. An encoder or scheduling service delivers the selected videos to a YouTube live stream.
YouTube distinguishes the liveStream, which carries the feed, from the liveBroadcast, the viewer-facing event. YouTube documents a 24/7 pattern in which a continuing feed is associated with broadcasts. A broadcast without a scheduled end time can continue indefinitely, but the encoder or scheduler must keep supplying content and manage daily rotation. YouTube does not automatically switch ordinary playlists according to a timetable. See YouTube Live API concepts and the liveBroadcast reference.
Prepare one playlist for each day
- Choose the content format. Decide whether each day will use pre-recorded video, live material, or a combination. Check that your selected delivery service supports the format: Restream says its playlist feature cannot mix live and pre-recorded content within the same playlist.
- Create and order the playlists. In YouTube Studio, create a playlist for each day or theme, such as “Monday Morning Prayer” or “Sunday Worship.” Use consistent names and descriptions, then arrange the videos in the intended order. See YouTube’s playlist instructions.
- Keep a master schedule. Record which playlist should be on air, when it should start, and who is responsible for checking the transition. This is especially useful when the daily blocks differ in length or a service needs a special schedule.
- Choose how the videos reach YouTube Live. For hands-on control, configure an encoder to send the selected content to your YouTube liveStream. For a hosted workflow, choose a service whose duration, storage, and scheduling limits match your plan.
- Test a day change before launch. Check that the outgoing playlist ends as intended and the next one begins without a gap, black screen, unintended restart, or wrong selection. Do not assume that scheduling two broadcasts back-to-back creates an uninterrupted handoff.
Choose a delivery method
Self-managed encoder
An encoder-based setup gives the operator control over the feed and the schedule, but requires an encoder to keep supplying content and someone to configure and monitor it. YouTube’s documented architecture separates the feed from the broadcast; the encoder or a separate scheduling layer must handle the content rotation. Exact hardware requirements depend on the build.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Hosted service or scheduler
A hosted service can deliver pre-recorded content without a local encoder running continuously, but limits vary by vendor and plan. StreamNeo is the first option to consider for an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos: it runs in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
Other documented options have specific constraints. OneStream Live says its 24/7 streaming feature is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and has a maximum duration of 30 days. Restream documents scheduled pre-recorded playlists on paid Upload & Stream tiers, with a maximum playlist length of 24 hours and up to 40 videos. Restream also says consecutive playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer, so that setup does not establish gap-free 24/7 playback by itself. Check the current terms and plan limits directly: OneStream Live’s 24/7 instructions and Restream’s playlist instructions.

Compare the operating trade-offs
| Approach | Runtime and transitions | Local equipment | Archive planning |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Always-on cloud stream with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; daily playlist organization and content selection still need to match your intended program. | No computer needs to stay on for the stream. | Plan YouTube archive settings and rights separately. |
| Self-managed encoder | YouTube documents an indefinitely continuing broadcast when no end time is set, but the operator must keep the feed going and provide rotation. | An encoder is part of the setup; exact requirements depend on the build. | Configure archive and DVR settings; streams longer than 12 hours need separate recording for a manual upload if you want an archive, according to Google’s guidance. |
| OneStream Live | Its documented 24/7 feature is capped at 30 days and requires Enterprise. | Hosted delivery can avoid a continuously running local encoder for pre-recorded content; verify plan and file limits. | Confirm what archive the plan provides and whether it meets your retention and rights needs. |
| Restream | Documented playlist limit is 24 hours and 40 videos; consecutive playlists have a two-minute buffer. | Hosted delivery can avoid a continuously running local encoder for pre-recorded content; verify plan and file limits. | Confirm archive behavior for the plan rather than assuming a playlist creates a retained VOD. |
Plan the live broadcast and archive
Decide whether viewers should be able to use DVR controls during the stream and whether you want a replay afterward. YouTube exposes archive and DVR settings through its broadcast tools and API. Google’s production guidance says streams up to 12 hours automatically become VOD; for streams longer than 12 hours, record the stream separately and manually upload it if you need an archive. A continuous 24/7 broadcast therefore needs a separate recording and archive plan if you want a complete replay. See YouTube’s live-streaming production guidance.
Clear music and video rights before streaming
A license for congregational singing or lyric display does not automatically establish permission for a continuous recorded stream. Google advises confirming clearances for the livestream, rebroadcast, and on-demand audio or video, including whether performance rights cover live use, archive use, or both.

CCLI’s US information distinguishes its Streaming License, which covers authorized worship music performed live during online services, from Streaming Plus, which extends coverage to authorized master recordings and multitracks. CCLI also says its streaming license can cover an archive while the license remains active, while video content usually needs permission from the relevant copyright owners. Its US program summary says to validate songs and recordings against covered catalogs and notes that the streaming license does not grant song monetization or revenue-sharing rights. These terms are territory- and agreement-specific: confirm the exact song, recording, video, territory, archive period, and monetization arrangement with the relevant rights provider. Common problems and fixes
- The playlist exists, but nothing is live. A YouTube playlist is an organizational tool, not a live feed. Connect an encoder or scheduling service to YouTube Live and make sure it is sending the selected content.
- The next day’s program does not start automatically. Ordinary YouTube playlists do not switch on a daily timetable. Configure the rotation in the encoder or scheduler and verify the schedule against your master plan.
- There is a gap between daily blocks. Check whether the service starts separate broadcasts and whether it imposes a transition buffer. Restream documents a two-minute buffer between back-to-back playlists, so its documented playlist workflow alone does not provide a gap-free handoff.
- The stream ends or the encoder stops supplying content. Check that the encoder or hosted service is still delivering the feed and that the broadcast’s intended runtime is configured. A continuing broadcast does not replace the need for a continuing source feed.
- The archive is missing or incomplete. Review YouTube archive and DVR settings. If the stream exceeds 12 hours, record it separately and manually upload the recording if you need a VOD.
- A song, recording, or video triggers a rights issue. Pause use of the disputed material until you have checked the applicable composition, recording, video, territory, and live or archive permissions with the rights holder or licensing provider.
