To alternate Hindi and English gaming VODs in OBS, add the local files to one VLC Video source in the order you want them played—for example, Hindi VOD 1, English VOD 1, Hindi VOD 2, English VOD 2—and leave Shuffle Playlist off. Choose whether Loop Playlist should restart playback after the last item. VLC must be installed, and its architecture must match OBS: use 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS.
Set up an ordered Hindi-English playlist
- Install VLC. OBS’s VLC Video source depends on VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation.
- Add a VLC Video source. In OBS, select the scene for your YouTube output, then use the Sources dock’s add control and choose VLC Video. This source supports a playlist; the regular Media Source is intended for an individual media file.
- Add the VOD files in the intended sequence. Arrange them explicitly, such as Hindi VOD 1 → English VOD 1 → Hindi VOD 2 → English VOD 2. OBS does not automatically detect a video’s language or alternate Hindi and English for you; the sequence is determined by the playlist order.
- Turn off Shuffle Playlist. Shuffle randomizes which item plays next. Leave it off for the ordered sequence you entered.
- Set Loop Playlist to match your plan. Enable it if playback should start again with the first item after the final VOD. Disable it if the stream should reach the end and stop after the last item.
- Check source visibility behavior. OBS documents options for continuing, pausing, or stopping playback when the source is not visible; the documented default is to stop when hidden and restart when visible. If you switch scenes or hide the source during output, check this setting so playback behaves as intended.
- Review the scene and test it. OBS layers sources according to their position in the Sources list. Keep captions, graphics, or other elements above the VLC Video source if they should appear over the video. Make a short test recording or stream and check the playback order, audio, and layout before relying on the setup. OBS recommends testing before a first stream or recording in its Quick Start Guide.
Choose the right OBS source

Optional alternative: a third-party playlist plugin
The OBS forum lists Media Playlist Source 0.1.3, a separately maintained plugin. Its listing describes editing an active playlist without restarting playback, direct file or folder selection, shuffle, and a current-file display. The listing also notes that it does not provide audio-track or subtitle selection and documents a folder-refresh caveat. It says versions from 0.1.0 onward require OBS 31 or later. Check the listing for current compatibility before installing; the built-in VLC Video source is sufficient for a static, ordered playlist.
Keep playback separate from rights and YouTube rules
Making a VOD play in OBS does not establish that you have permission to rebroadcast it, keep the resulting YouTube archive, or monetize it. Check the rights for the game footage, music, and any other material in each recording, along with YouTube’s current rules, before streaming. The OBS playback documentation explains how to configure a source; it does not determine whether a particular rebroadcast complies with YouTube policies or a publisher’s rights terms.
