To show supporters on a live stream, use a provider’s label or leaderboard widget: in OBS, add its widget URL as a Browser source; in Streamlabs Desktop, add a Stream Label source or use the StreamLabels app to feed a text source in other streaming software. First choose which support event and platform you want to count. A goal bar, a recent-supporter label and a ranked top-donor list are different displays.
Choose what the leaderboard should count
Decide which events should appear before choosing a widget: tips or donations, subscriptions, memberships, bits, or another kind of support. The provider’s integration determines which events and platforms it can track; do not assume one widget covers every event across Twitch, YouTube, Kick or other platforms.
Also decide what display you mean. A persistent supporter label can show a name or top donor; a ranked leaderboard orders supporters; a goal bar shows progress toward a target. Streamlabs documents separate goal widgets for tips, Twitch and Kick subscriptions, YouTube memberships, Twitch Bits, YouTube Super Chats and charity donations, but that list does not establish a ranked leaderboard for every event. Check the selected provider’s current documentation for event coverage and ranking period.
Add a supporter display in Streamlabs Desktop
- Add a source: in Streamlabs Desktop, add a Stream Label source and give it a recognizable name.
- Choose the label: select the label type you want. Streamlabs documentation lists options including top tip and highest donor.
- Customize and place it: adjust the label’s appearance and position it in the scene where viewers should see it.
- Test the intended event: check that the expected name or value appears for the event you chose and that the source is present in the scene you plan to use.
Add a provider widget to OBS
- Get the widget URL: copy the relevant widget URL from the provider’s dashboard. Treat it as private; Streamlabs warns not to show the URL on stream.
- Create the Browser source: in OBS, open the scene, select the Sources plus button, choose Browser, and paste the provider’s URL.
- Set its size and position: enter an appropriate width and height, then resize and place the source in the scene. Check that it does not cover important video, captions or other on-screen information.
- Verify before going live: confirm the correct scene contains the source and that the display responds to the intended support event. Keep the widget URL and private dashboard details out of the visible output.
OBS itself does not handle donations. The OBS Project states, “The OBS Project does not directly provide the facilities to receive donations for your stream in OBS Studio.” A third-party provider or platform fundraising integration supplies donation handling and any related alert data. See the OBS Project donation guidance.

Use StreamLabels text files in other streaming software
- Install and sign in to the StreamLabels app.
- Choose an output folder in the app.
- In your broadcasting software, add a text source that reads the file for the label you want to display.
- Keep StreamLabels running while you stream: Streamlabs says the app must remain open for its text files to update in real time.
Test the overlay and protect private details
- Check that the right scene includes the label, text source or Browser source.
- Confirm the display reflects the event type you intend to count; a goal total does not automatically provide a ranked list.
- Make sure the widget URL, private dashboard information and any unintended personal details are not visible to viewers.
- Check audio and video before a fundraising stream. The American Red Cross and MDA guides describe particular fundraising setups; they are examples, not universal instructions for all platforms or providers.
Choose the display type that fits
| Display | What it shows | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Supporter label | A provider-defined label, such as a top tip or highest donor. | Which event the label tracks and whether it updates as expected. |
| Ranked leaderboard | Supporters ordered by the selected event or measure. | Whether the provider supports ranking for your platform and event, and the ranking period. |
| Goal bar | Progress toward a target, such as a total tip goal. | The target and current total. A goal bar is not automatically a ranked leaderboard. |
Compare options by event coverage, whether the display is ranked or a goal total, platform compatibility, source type (native, Browser or text file), and how much scene maintenance it requires. Product menus and platform integrations can change, so check the selected provider’s current documentation.
Troubleshooting common problems
The display is blank in OBS
Confirm that the Browser source contains the provider’s widget URL, has a suitable size, and is in the scene currently shown. If the provider requires setup or an event before it displays content, check its dashboard and current instructions.

A StreamLabels text source is not updating
Check that StreamLabels is signed in, points to the folder your text source reads, and remains running. The app must stay open for its text files to refresh in real time.
The wrong event or value appears
Check the label or widget type and the provider’s event integration for your platform. A tip goal, for example, reports progress toward a target; it is not the same as a ranked list of supporters.

The widget URL is visible to viewers
Remove it from any visible text or display and keep it in the Browser source’s configuration. Streamlabs specifically cautions against showing the widget URL on stream.
A support event does not appear
Verify that the provider supports that event on your platform and that the correct widget or label is configured. Do not assume coverage for other platforms or event types based on a provider’s separate goal-widget list.
