Use the URL that matches how you receive Sportsnet: direct Sportsnet+ subscribers should go to watch.sportsnet.ca/activate, while subscribers whose access comes from a participating TV provider should use watch.sportsnet.ca/tv. Enter the temporary code shown in the Sportsnet app, then wait up to 15 seconds for the device to refresh.
To activate Sportsnet on a connected TV, first choose the sign-in route that matches your subscription. Direct Sportsnet+ subscribers should open watch.sportsnet.ca/activate. Subscribers who receive Sportsnet through a participating television provider should use watch.sportsnet.ca/tv.
The code is generated by the Sportsnet app on your TV or streaming device. It is a temporary device-linking code—not a subscription code, promo code, or universal login code. You still need an active Sportsnet+ subscription or eligible access through a participating Canadian TV provider.
Before you start
- Install or open the Sportsnet app on your supported TV, streaming stick, game console, or other connected device.
- Have your Sportsnet+ credentials ready, or have the username and password for your participating TV provider available.
- Confirm that your exact device model and operating system are supported.
- Use a phone or computer for the browser activation step.
- Make sure you are in Canada. Sportsnet streaming availability and programming rights are geographically restricted.
Before entering any credentials, check that the browser address is exactly watch.sportsnet.ca. Avoid unofficial websites that imitate Sportsnet’s activation page.

How to activate Sportsnet with a Sportsnet+ subscription
Use this route if you pay Sportsnet directly through a Sportsnet+ subscription. Older Sportsnet pages may call the service “Sportsnet NOW,” but current support materials use Sportsnet+.
- Open the Sportsnet app on your TV, streaming device, or game console.
- Select Sign in with Sportsnet+.
- Leave the activation-code screen open on the TV.
- On a separate phone or computer, go to watch.sportsnet.ca/activate.
- Sign in with the email address and password for your Sportsnet+ account.
- Enter the activation code shown on the TV. Type it exactly as displayed, without adding spaces or changing the character order.
- Submit the code and wait for the TV app to refresh. Sportsnet says the connected device may take up to 15 seconds to complete activation.
When activation succeeds, the TV app should move past the code screen and load Sportsnet content. Do not close the TV app while the code is being submitted unless the code has expired or the screen has changed.
How to activate Sportsnet through a TV provider
Use this route if your Sportsnet access comes with a cable, satellite, IPTV, or other participating television-provider package. Do not use the direct Sportsnet+ route simply because you are trying to sign in on a television.
- Open the Sportsnet app on the supported device.
- Select Sign In With TV Provider.
- On a phone or computer, open watch.sportsnet.ca/tv.
- Enter the activation code displayed by the TV app.
- Select your television provider from the list.
- Complete the provider’s login and authorization steps.
- Return to the TV and wait up to 15 seconds for the app to finish linking.
Participating providers have included Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Shaw, Cogeco, SaskTel, Source Cable, Eastlink, V Media, and others. Provider participation and package eligibility can change, so a provider appearing in a general list does not necessarily mean every package includes the Sportsnet access you need.

The most common mistake is matching the wrong account to the wrong route. A TV-provider subscription normally cannot be activated as though it were a direct Sportsnet+ subscription, and a direct Sportsnet+ account should not be entered through the provider authorization flow.
What to do if the Sportsnet activation code does not work
“Invalid code” or rejected code
- Look at the TV and confirm that the code on screen is still the current one.
- If the app has generated a new code, discard the old one.
- Enter the visible code again, carefully checking similar characters and their order.
- Confirm that you opened the correct page: /activate for Sportsnet+ or /tv for a TV provider.
- If it still fails, back out of the sign-in screen and generate a fresh code.
Do not search for a third-party “master” code. The code belongs to the particular device session that displayed it.
The browser says activation succeeded, but the TV is still showing the code
Wait the full 15 seconds specified by Sportsnet. Then check that the browser authorization actually completed and that the TV app is still connected to the internet. If the TV code has changed, repeat the process with the new code.
If the screen remains unchanged, close and reopen the Sportsnet app. As a further practical step, restart the streaming device or TV and try again. These restart steps can clear a stalled app session, but they are troubleshooting suggestions rather than a guaranteed Sportsnet fix.

You selected the wrong sign-in option
Back out of the app and start over:
- Select Sportsnet+ if you subscribe directly to Sportsnet.
- Select TV Provider if your access comes from a cable, satellite, or IPTV provider.
If the app does not offer the option you expect, confirm the account type and update or reinstall the official Sportsnet app if appropriate for your device.
Your TV provider is not listed
Your provider may not participate in Sportsnet’s authentication system, or your specific package may not include the required Sportsnet channels or streaming rights. Check the provider’s current package details and Sportsnet’s current provider information before changing accounts or purchasing a separate subscription.
The Sportsnet app is unavailable on your device
Compatibility is model-specific. A device family name alone is not enough—for example, some Fire TV Stick generations are supported while older generations are not. Check the exact model before buying replacement hardware.

Supported connected-TV models generally offer up to 1080p under the device-support information, but actual video quality can depend on the device, title, internet connection, and service conditions. Compatibility also does not guarantee that a device will solve an account, provider, or regional-rights problem.

Sportsnet streaming is described as available for use in Canada. Being able to open the website or install the app in another country does not mean that you can stream Sportsnet programming there. An activation code links an account to a device; it does not bypass geographic restrictions.

NHL regional blackouts can also apply after successful activation. Sportsnet programming follows applicable broadcast territories and rights rules, so a correctly activated account may still be unable to show a particular game in a particular region. A VPN is not an appropriate solution to recommend for bypassing those restrictions.
What the activation code actually does
The code creates a temporary link between the device running the Sportsnet app and an authenticated Sportsnet+ or participating-TV-provider account. It does not:
- create a Sportsnet+ subscription;
- replace a TV-provider login;
- unlock a provider package that does not include Sportsnet;
- guarantee access to every program or live event; or
- remove Canadian geographic restrictions or NHL regional blackouts.
