Tinder’s Passport Mode let me set my location to Milan before I arrived. I matched with someone there, met up, and got a personal tour of the city. That was my experience—not a promise that Passport will produce a date or a local guide for everyone.
How Tinder Passport work?
Passport Mode changes the city Tinder uses to show you potential matches; it does not mean you have physically traveled there. Tinder describes the feature this way: “With Passport™ Mode, you can search by city or drop a pin on the map to connect with others in the city of your choice.” (Tinder Help, updated September 1, 2026.)
I used that option to look for people in Milan ahead of my visit. One match became a date and a tour around the city. The useful part was being able to start a conversation before arriving; the date and tour came down to the person I met and how things worked out.
Can you use Tinder Passport before traveling?
Yes. You can set your Tinder location to a destination you have not yet visited and search there. To change it, open Tinder, tap the profile icon, open Settings, scroll to Location, and add a new location. Tinder allows one virtual city at a time, but says you can change locations as often as you like. (Tinder Help.)

How do you get Passport Mode?
Tinder documents two access routes: a standalone Passport purchase or a subscription that includes the feature. Its subscription comparison lists Passport under Tinder Plus; Gold includes Plus features, and Platinum includes both Plus and Gold features. The reviewed help pages do not state a stable price, and Tinder notes that plan inclusions can be affected by testing. Check the offer and features shown in your own app and market before choosing.
- Already subscribed? Check whether your current plan includes Passport before buying it separately.
- Considering a subscription? Compare the other tier features you would actually use, not just Passport access.
- Looking for a price? Use the price displayed for your account in Tinder; the cited documentation does not provide one universal amount.

Can people still see your profile after you change your Tinder location?
They may. Tinder says people you liked while using Passport Mode can continue to see your profile for up to 24 hours after you change locations. A location change therefore may not immediately remove your profile from the view of people you encountered in the previous city. (Tinder Help.)

Discovery and Traveler Alert
In destinations where LGBTQIA+ people could be at risk, Tinder says a Traveler Alert may activate. Tinder explains that, unlike when physically present in a hostile location, profile discovery remains on during Passport Mode unless you choose to turn it off. Read the alert and consider whether you want your profile discoverable before proceeding. (Tinder Help, updated October 10, 2024.)

Face Check requirements
Tinder says Face Check is required in some geographies to use Passport Mode there. If Tinder prompts you to complete the check, you will need to do so to use the feature in that region. (Tinder Help.)

Tinder says its service is available in more than 190 countries and more than 40 languages; those are company-published availability figures, not independently audited measures.
