The film ends by turning the coins stolen from the Bank of Spain into a clue to a much larger treasure beneath the Bank of London. It is a clear setup for another heist, but it does not confirm that a sequel has been made or commissioned.
What happens at the end of The Vault?
Thom joins Walter’s crew to steal coins from a chamber beneath the Bank of Spain. The chamber’s security system threatens to flood it when its weight changes, and Thom devises a way to buy the team time. The plan still goes wrong: James, revealed to be working for British interests, takes what he believes are the real coins.
Walter has anticipated James’s betrayal. Lorraine has switched the coins, so James leaves with fakes while the crew retains the originals. The escape and the deception resolve the immediate heist, but the coins turn out to be more than the object of the job.
How do the coins point to a sequel?
Walter deciphers the real coins and concludes that they point to Sir Francis Drake’s larger fortune, hidden beneath the Bank of London. That revelation changes the meaning of the Bank of Spain robbery: the coins were clues to a bigger prize, not the ultimate treasure.

The ending therefore leaves the crew with a plausible next target and the story with room for another caper. It does not show a Bank of London break-in, however. The next heist exists as a possibility suggested by the final reveal, not as an event already underway on screen.
Has a sequel to The Vault been confirmed?
No confirmed follow-up is established by the sources cited here. In an ending explainer published September 6, 2024, Radio Times described the franchise as beginning and ending with this film at that time, while noting that there was scope for more. That is a dated report, not a current studio announcement; the ending’s sequel hook should not be mistaken for confirmation of production.

Which film is this, and where can it be watched?
Paramount Pictures lists The Vault as a 2021 action/adventure thriller, directed by Jaume Balagueró and starring Freddie Highmore, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Riley, Liam Cunningham, José Coronado, Luis Tosar, and Famke Janssen. The official listing gives a March 26, 2021 release date, an R rating, and a 127-minute runtime. The film is also called Way Down in some territories, so either title may be useful when searching for it.
Netflix’s UK listing describes the film, but at the time it was accessed, it said the title was not currently available in the UK. Netflix catalogs vary by territory and change over time, so that listing does not establish availability in other countries or guarantee future UK availability.
