There is no audited, like-for-like public accounting of what every James Bond actor earned. The available figures are media reports—mostly from 2012—and mix single-film salaries, per-film averages and contract terms. They offer a useful comparison, but not definitive lifetime totals.
Reported Bond earnings at a glance
| Actor | Reported figure | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Sean Connery | £10,000; later £620,000 | Reported pay for Dr. No and Diamonds Are Forever, respectively; News24, 2012. The latter deal reportedly included additional terms and gross participation, so base pay may not reflect its full value. |
| George Lazenby | £340,000 | Reported pay for his single Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service; News24, 2012. |
| Roger Moore | £1.4 million per film on average | Reported average across seven Bond films; News24, 2012. |
| Timothy Dalton | £1.4 million per film on average | Reported average across two Bond films; News24, 2012. |
| Pierce Brosnan | £6.1 million per film on average; £10.3 million for Die Another Day | News24 reported the average; The Independent reported the specific film figure in 2012. |
| Daniel Craig | £9.6 million per film on average; £10.7 million for Skyfall; more than £31 million for two further films | Figures reported in 2012 by News24 and The Independent. They describe reporting at that time, not verified earnings across Craig’s complete Bond tenure. |
These figures were reported by news outlets, not disclosed through a consistent set of studio contracts or audited records. The amounts are in pounds sterling, and the reports do not establish whether every figure includes bonuses, backend participation or other compensation. The figures and distinctions below are from News24’s 2012 comparison and The Independent’s 2012 report.
What the reports say about each actor
Sean Connery
News24 reported that Connery received £10,000 for Dr. No and £620,000 for Diamonds Are Forever. Those are reported film-pay figures, not a total for his Bond career. TIME’s account of the later deal notes reported gross participation and other negotiated terms, meaning the £620,000 figure alone may not capture the whole arrangement. TIME’s account of Connery’s deal does not turn that compensation into a comparable lifetime total.
George Lazenby
News24 put Lazenby’s reported earnings for his one Bond appearance, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, at £340,000. The same 2012 article also gave an inflation-adjusted equivalent of £460,000 in its contemporary comparison. That is the article’s historical conversion, not a present-day calculation.
#1 Best Overall
Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton
News24 reported an average of £1.4 million per film for both actors, but their film counts differ: Moore appeared in seven Bond films, while Dalton appeared in two. The 2012 reports’ inflation-adjusted comparisons put Moore’s average at £6.3 million and Dalton’s at £5.4 million in the contemporary values used by those articles. These conversions should not be read as 2026 purchasing-power estimates.
Pierce Brosnan
News24 reported Brosnan’s average at £6.1 million per film. The Independent separately reported £10.3 million for Die Another Day. Its 2012 contemporary-price comparison gave an inflation-adjusted average of £8.7 million per film. An average across his Bond films and the reported payday for one film are different measures.

Daniel Craig
News24 reported a £9.6 million per-film average under the deal it described in 2012. The Independent reported £10.7 million for Skyfall and a then-current contract worth more than £31 million for two additional films. The Independent’s contemporary-price comparison also gave Craig’s average as £9.6 million. These reports predate No Time to Die, which TIME identified as Craig’s final Bond outing in 2021; they do not establish his compensation for that film or his total earnings from all five films. TIME’s 2021 account of the film’s place in Craig’s Bond tenure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the numbers do not produce a definitive highest-paid ranking
- Different measures: A salary for one film, an average per film, and the value of a contract covering more than one film are not interchangeable.
- Different deal structures: Connery’s reported gross participation illustrates why a stated salary may omit contingent compensation or other negotiated terms.
- Different reporting eras: The main comparison is from 2012, and the actors’ contracts span different decades. The sources do not supply a common calculation method or underlying contracts for every actor.
- Inflation figures are dated: The adjusted figures cited here reflect the contemporary conversions in 2012 reporting. They are not updated to 2026.
- Incomplete career coverage: Craig’s reported 2012 figures came before his final film as Bond, and the reports do not provide a verified total for his full run.
For those reasons, the reports support a comparison of selected reported pay figures, not a definitive ranking of lifetime earnings, total compensation or net worth. The available evidence does not establish audited career totals for any of the six actors.
