Whoopi Goldberg’s exact current salary for hosting The View has not been publicly confirmed. Recent media reports estimate that she earns around $6 million to $8 million a year, but that range is not an official ABC figure—and separate 2026 coverage says she took a pay cut for season 29 without stating her new salary.
What is Whoopi Goldberg’s reported salary?
The most specific current estimate is $6 million to $8 million per year. The Independent relayed that range from Page Six in 2026. It should be treated as an attributed media estimate, not as a verified paycheck or a figure confirmed by Goldberg or ABC. The Independent’s report

A separate 2026 account by Parade, also citing Page Six, said Goldberg received a pay cut for season 29 but remained the show’s highest-paid host, with a “mid-seven-figure salary.” It did not give an exact post-cut amount. The two reports therefore do not establish a precise current salary or explain how the reported cut relates to the $6 million-to-$8 million estimate. Parade’s account of the season 29 report
How the reported figures compare over time
| Period and source | Reported figure | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| 2016, Variety report reproduced by TVWeek | $5 million to $6 million annually | A historical report about her pay at the time she signed a one-year extension; it is not a current salary. TVWeek |
| 2026, Page Six estimate relayed by The Independent | $6 million to $8 million per year | A current media-reported estimate, not an official disclosure. The Independent |
| 2026, Page Six report described by Parade | “Mid-seven-figure salary” after a reported season 29 pay cut | The account gives no exact post-cut amount. Parade |
The figures come from reports published in different years and do not support calculating a more precise salary or a per-episode rate. Goldberg has moderated and co-hosted The View since 2007, according to ABC’s official biography.

What Goldberg has said about her paycheck
In an August 2026 podcast appearance, Goldberg joked, “I love the check,” adding, “You would be shocked. Listen, you would be shocked…” She did not state the amount. The remark confirms neither the reported range nor the post-cut figure. The podcast appearance
