What MrBeast said he earns per video
Donaldson’s 2024 estimate separates two major sources of video revenue:

- YouTube advertising: a couple million dollars per video, in his approximate wording.
- Brand deals: a couple million dollars per video, also in his approximate wording.
TIME separately reported that Marc Hustvedt, who ran MrBeast’s YouTube business, said brands paid $2.5 million to $3 million for a shout-out. That is Hustvedt’s reported sponsor-pricing estimate, not a universal rate card or a figure Donaldson gave for every video.
Why that is not his personal take-home pay
The quote describes revenue generated by videos; it does not establish how much Donaldson personally keeps. TIME reported that Donaldson said the business reinvested what it made. It also reported that the production company was not profitable in 2023 and was not expected to be profitable in 2024. Those statements do not reveal the profit or loss on any particular upload, its production cost, or Donaldson’s salary and taxes.

Why YouTube ad estimates are easy to misread
YouTube distinguishes between CPM and RPM. CPM measures what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions before YouTube’s share. RPM measures a creator’s revenue after YouTube’s share per 1,000 views, across eligible revenue sources. As YouTube explains in its RPM and CPM guidance, the metrics are not interchangeable: multiplying CPM by total video views does not calculate a creator’s earnings.
Not every view receives an ad. YouTube says ad revenue and CPM can vary with factors including viewer location, season, ad formats, ad availability, and whether content is suitable for advertisers. RPM also reflects unmonetized views, so changes in the mix of viewers and views can affect the rate.

RPM also does not capture all revenue associated with a video. YouTube says it excludes merchandise and most brand deals or sponsorships. That is why Donaldson’s ad-revenue estimate and brand-deal estimate need to be considered separately rather than treating ad analytics as a complete earnings statement.
What the viral $263,655 figure actually represents
A frequently repeated figure comes from a different platform and experiment. In January 2024, Donaldson posted an existing video to X as a monetization test. TechCrunch reported that, after a week, he shared a screenshot showing $263,655 in ad revenue, alongside more than 156 million impressions and 5 million engagements.

That was an X payout, not revenue from a YouTube upload. Donaldson also cautioned that the result might not be typical, saying advertisers had noticed the attention and bought ads against the video, which could make revenue per view unusually high.

No. YouTube reported on June 12, 2026, that Donaldson became the first individual creator to reach 500 million subscribers. That milestone, covered on the YouTube Blog, shows the scale of his audience; it does not disclose a video’s monetized views, RPM, sponsor agreement, production costs, or profit. Subscriber totals cannot be used as an earnings formula.

What can be said about MrBeast’s current earnings?
The public reporting cited here does not establish a current average per-video amount. Donaldson’s 2024 interview remains the clearest direct estimate: a couple million dollars in YouTube ad revenue plus a couple million in brand deals per video, as he described it then. It should not be turned into a precise present-day total or interpreted as net income. A reliable calculation would require private analytics, contracts, and production-cost information that have not been disclosed.
