There is no single price: the cost depends on how many hours you stream, where the cloud server runs, which codec and frame rate you send, whether the video must be re-encoded, and whether your setup includes services beyond the encoder. For a self-managed cloud VM, estimate compute for every hour it is on plus applicable internet egress, storage, and software. For a managed encoder, add its running input, output, and add-on charges. YouTube receives the stream and handles playback delivery on its platform; you generally should not add a separate viewer CDN bill unless your architecture actually serves viewers through one.
What you are paying for
Separate the bill into the services your design actually uses. A simple cloud VM that sends one feed to YouTube has a different cost boundary from a broadcast architecture that also packages a feed and distributes it to viewers.
- Encoding or compute: the VM or managed encoder that processes and sends the video.
- Internet egress: data sent from your cloud provider to YouTube, where the provider bills for it.
- Storage and software: source-video storage and any paid tools, if applicable.
- Packaging and viewer delivery: include these only if your design uses them. YouTube says it transcodes incoming live streams for different devices and networks; a separate CDN audience-delivery charge is not automatically part of sending a feed to YouTube (YouTube live encoder settings).
For example, AWS describes a live-streaming architecture using MediaLive for encoding, MediaPackage for ingest and packaging, and CloudFront for viewer distribution. Its example totals depend on region, output profile, audience, bitrate, and caching assumptions. They are not an encoder-only price for one prerecorded feed sent to YouTube (AWS live-streaming solution).
Estimate bandwidth from the 4K output
YouTube’s published recommended ingest bitrates provide a planning baseline. The transfer volumes below are calculated from those bitrates in decimal units; they are not cloud-provider prices and do not include protocol overhead.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | YouTube-recommended bitrate | Approximate data per hour |
|---|---|---|
| 2160p30, AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 30 Mbps | 13.5 GB |
| 2160p60, AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 35 Mbps | 15.75 GB |
| 2160p30, H.264 | 42 Mbps | 18.9 GB |
| 2160p60, H.264 | 50 Mbps | 22.5 GB |
Multiply the hourly volume for your intended codec and frame rate by the planned runtime. For instance, 24 hours at the 2160p30 AV1/H.265 planning rate is about 324 decimal GB before overhead (13.5 GB × 24). Use the resulting transfer amount with the selected cloud provider’s egress terms for your region; allowances and rates vary. YouTube’s guide lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1, up to 60 fps, and recommends constant bitrate encoding. For 4K, it specifies normal latency rather than low latency (YouTube live encoder settings; YouTube live encoder settings and bitrate recommendations).

Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Get the VM rate for the region and machine you plan to use, then multiply by the full time it will be powered on—not only the time viewers are watching. Add the egress estimate from the bitrate table. Verify that the VM can encode your source in real time at the target resolution and frame rate. The required compute depends on the source codec, dimensions, frame rate, overlays, and whether you can pass the source through or must transcode it; there is no benchmark here to predict a particular VM’s performance.
AWS Elemental MediaLive
MediaLive on-demand pricing adds the charges for running inputs, outputs, and applicable add-ons. AWS says the billed duration has a 10-minute minimum and then rounds up to the nearest minute. Charges continue while a channel is running even if it has no input or produces no output, so stop it when it is not needed. Check the current pricing page or AWS calculator for the region, codec, frame rate, channel class, and output configuration you intend to use; a MediaLive figure may not include separate packaging, storage, or delivery services (AWS Elemental MediaLive pricing).

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
AWS also notes that MediaPackage pricing covers ingest and packaging/origination, and that internet data-transfer charges may apply when content is delivered over the internet or through a CDN other than CloudFront. Add those components only if your chosen design requires them (AWS Elemental MediaPackage pricing).
Specialized prerecorded-streaming service
YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud tool for continuous prerecorded streams in Full HD and 4K at 30 or 60 fps. That establishes it as a possible service path, not its current price. Compare a current provider quote and plan limits for runtime, simultaneous channels, source storage or transfer, looping, and scheduling against the VM or managed-encoder costs (YouTube live encoder directory).

Make the comparison like-for-like
Before deciding which option costs less, use the same assumptions for each quote:
- Scheduled hours per day or month, including setup and idle time.
- Cloud region and applicable egress allowance or rate.
- Output codec, frame rate, resolution, and bitrate.
- Whether the source can be passed through or needs transcoding.
- Number of simultaneous streams and any redundancy requirement.
- Whether storage, scheduling, looping, support, packaging, or distribution is included.
Without those inputs and current regional prices, a precise all-in monthly total would be misleading. Do not use an AWS audience-distribution example as the price of encoding one YouTube feed: the published example includes its own architecture and viewer assumptions.
