The company’s currently listed $150,000 refundable deposit begins an order process for a future flight; it is not the ticket price and does not guarantee a seat. Blue Origin’s experience form says no charge is made when the form is submitted.
What is known about Katy Perry’s flight cost?
There is no publicly confirmed fare for Perry’s flight, and the available reporting does not establish whether she or any other passenger paid. The Associated Press reported on April 14, 2025 that Blue Origin declined to disclose the cost of the mission or who paid what. The AP’s report also notes that the company does not disclose ticket prices.
That means neither a personal bill for Perry nor a per-passenger fare can be stated reliably. Blue Origin has flown special guests free on other flights, according to The Washington Post, but that precedent does not show that any NS-31 passenger flew free.
What does Blue Origin’s $150,000 figure mean?
Blue Origin’s current New Shepard experience form lists a $150,000 refundable deposit to start an order process. The company says submitting the form does not trigger a charge and does not guarantee a seat. It describes the deposit as fully refundable. This is an initial deposit for a future-flight order process—not a disclosed ticket price, total trip cost, or confirmed amount paid by an NS-31 passenger. Check Blue Origin’s experience form for its current terms.

Why do some reports mention $28 million?
The $28 million figure is a one-time auction result reported by The Washington Post: in 2021, a bidder won a seat on Blue Origin’s inaugural crewed flight at auction. That transaction is not a standard fare and says nothing about what Perry’s 2025 flight cost. The Washington Post’s report distinguishes the auction from undisclosed ticket prices.
What was the NS-31 mission?
Blue Origin’s NS-31 flew from Launch Site One in West Texas on April 14, 2025. The crew was Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyễn, Gayle King, Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sánchez. Blue Origin called it the company’s 11th human spaceflight. The Associated Press described the automated flight as lasting about 10 minutes, reaching 66 miles (107 kilometers), and including a few minutes of weightlessness. Blue Origin’s mission announcement lists the crew and mission details.
