Jerry confirms the jacket cost more than $300, but Seinfeld never reveals the exact price. George guesses $500; Jerry does not confirm it.
What price does Jerry actually confirm?
In “The Jacket,” Jerry says he paid “what it costs” and calls the amount embarrassing. When George asks whether it was over $300, Jerry answers yes, then tells him to stop there. That establishes a lower bound: the price was more than $300, but the episode does not give an exact figure. The Seinfeld Scripts transcript and the Springfield! Springfield! transcript preserve the exchange.
Was it $400 or $500?
Neither amount is confirmed. George asks if the price is over $400, and Jerry refuses to answer. George then guesses $500, but Jerry does not verify that number. So $500 is a character’s guess, not the jacket’s stated price. The IMSDb transcript also describes the suede jacket and its pink lining with candy stripes; Elaine suggests the lining can be changed.

The jacket purchase is in “The Jacket,” season 2, episode 3, which aired February 6, 1991. Seinfeldism’s episode page identifies the episode and credits Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld as writers.
