Luke Holloway’s “I Have One Daughter” began as a comic response to a confusing dating-app exchange, became a TikTok sound, and was later expanded into a full-length streaming track. PEOPLE called it an “accidental” song of the summer in an August 2025 feature—a cultural judgment, not an official ranking.
Where “I Have One Daughter” came from
Holloway made the original snippet as part 25 of his “Turning Terrible Tinder Conversations into Songs” series. The exchange hinged on a man misunderstanding how one daughter related to the idea of multiple “baby daddies.” Holloway turned the mismatch into a melodic joke. PEOPLE’s August 9, 2025 feature, republished by AOL, described the premise and the series.
The format is central to the joke: an awkward conversational moment becomes a compact song rather than a conventional narrative about dating. ABC News likewise described Holloway as a music producer who turns uncomfortable dating-app conversations into songs in its August 22, 2025 segment.
How the snippet became a TikTok sound
After Holloway posted the snippet, TikTok users reused its sound in videos about questions that made little sense in their own circumstances. The joke traveled beyond the original dating-app story: people could apply the sound to an unrelated moment of confusion.

PEOPLE reported nearly 3 million likes across social media for the video at the time of its August 9 article. That is a publication-time figure for likes, not a current count and not a measure of streams. Holloway told PEOPLE, “It is crazy because everything can explode so, so quickly and unexpectedly, I didn’t expect it at all.” He said he had seen videos do well before, but had not seen the sound itself go viral.
Is “I Have One Daughter” a full song?
Yes. Following the viral response, Holloway expanded the snippet into “I Have One Daughter” and released the full-length track across streaming platforms, according to PEOPLE. The article does not give an exact release date, list individual platforms, or provide a full credit list.

A September 15, 2025 Gen Admission interview identifies Holloway as Lewky and describes his comedy-song approach. He says, “I like to take funny, bizarre conversations and turn them into songs.” In that interview, he also expresses a hope to release an album or vinyl one day; that aspiration is not evidence of a currently available physical edition.
Was it officially the song of the summer?
Not by TikTok’s official 2025 ranking. PEOPLE framed Holloway’s track as an accidental summer song in its feature, a subjective description of its viral reach and cultural resonance. TikTok’s own September 4 announcement named Jess Glynne’s 2015 song “Hold My Hand” its global and US Song of the Summer, based on video creations and views over the summer period.

TikTok said “Hold My Hand” had been used in more than 9 million videos and that videos featuring it had received more than 80 billion views. Those are TikTok’s figures for its top-ranked song, not for Holloway’s track. The announcement and its methodology are on TikTok Newsroom.
The labels can coexist because they refer to different things: PEOPLE’s editorial characterization of a viral comedy sound, versus TikTok’s platform ranking based on creations and video views. A September 2025 KCRW discussion addressed why 2025 did not have one uncontested, broadly shared summer song, pointing to fragmented media consumption. In that context, “song of the summer” can describe a cultural impression without being a universally agreed title.

Who is Luke Holloway, or Lewky?
Holloway is the creator behind the dating-app-to-song series; Lewky is the name used in the Gen Admission interview. Across the accounts, the through-line is a comedic songwriting format: take a strange or awkward exchange and make it musical. “I Have One Daughter” caught on not just because of its original misunderstanding, but because its sound gave other users a way to frame their own inexplicable conversations.
