Kavi Singh’s early rise began with a song recorded in 2019. According to journalist Kunal Purohit’s account, her father shared the audio on WhatsApp; after it spread, he arranged a performance video that circulated online. Later reporting describes Singh as a “Hindutva-pop” performer whose songs address political and religious themes.
How did Kavi Singh become famous?
In a 2023 excerpt from his book, journalist Kunal Purohit traces Singh’s breakthrough to a recording made in 2019. Purohit writes that Singh had not sung before her father, Ramkesh Jiwanpurwala, heard her humming in the kitchen. He arranged for them to go to a local studio, where they composed a tune and recorded her vocals.

Her father sent the audio to friends on WhatsApp. The following morning, he told Purohit, the song had spread widely, and people were sending videos of themselves lip-syncing to it. He then arranged a quick video of Singh performing at a studio microphone. The video was posted soon afterward and, Purohit reports, went viral.
An April 2024 report by The Indian Express also identifies the Pulwama song as the track that boosted Singh’s career. It reports her account that her foster father uploaded it to WhatsApp, where it became background audio for social-media videos. The accounts broadly support the sequence of audio circulation followed by video, but neither provides platform analytics or a verified view count for the original track.

What kind of songs brought her attention?
Purohit describes Singh’s songs as taking up subjects discussed in Hindu-right-wing circles, including population control, “love jihad,” the revocation of Article 370, and the Ram temple. “Hindutva-pop” is a label used in reporting for this music and its political-cultural context; it is not a neutral description of every listener or a verification of the claims made in lyrics.
“Dhara 370” and Kashmir
Purohit calls “Dhara 370” one of Singh’s popular songs. He describes its video as pairing the word “gaddars” (“traitors”) with images of Kashmiri separatist leaders and politicians. That is a description of the song’s presentation and political framing, not an established factual judgment about the people shown or the events the song addresses.

Later political themes and activity
In 2024, The Indian Express reported that Singh had also sung about Hindutva and Akhand Bharat, and quoted lyrics from a song titled “Hindutva.” The paper reported her statement that the BJP had approached her to make a Modi campaign song and that she accepted payment for rally appearances. Those reported activities do not establish formal party membership.
A 2025 interview-based feature in The Atlantic described Singh as a Hindutva-pop performer and recounted the WhatsApp circulation of her early song. During the interview, she said she was preparing for a walking yatra and planned to begin in Haridwar. The feature records her plan at that time; it does not confirm that the journey later took place. Singh also told the magazine: “Everybody listens to me,” she said. “I know that Prime Minister Modi listens to my songs.”

What was reported about her career in 2023?
At the time of Purohit’s 2023 excerpt, Singh was reported to be 25 and to have recorded more than 80 songs in about four years, with more awaiting release. These are figures from that dated profile, not current measures of her age or catalog. The sources cited here do not establish her present following, the full size of her catalog, or independent audience metrics for the breakthrough track.
