How does Jack reveal the connection?
Jack first arrives at Firehouse 51 as a floater assigned to Truck 81. Kelly has little reason at first to suspect a family tie. Jack, however, already knows about Kelly: he eventually tells him that Benny had spoken to him about his brother. The reveal makes Jack’s arrival more than a workplace change; it brings another part of Benny’s legacy into Kelly’s life.
What happens between the brothers after the reveal?
The relationship develops through tension rather than an instant bond. In season 13, Damon disobeys Kidd’s orders and turns to Severide for protection. Peacock’s official season 13 episode summaries describe the conflict and indicate that Damon’s eventual departure weighs on Severide. The story tests whether the brothers can navigate both their family connection and their responsibilities at the firehouse.

Why is Jack called Damon instead of Severide?
The available on-screen explanation and cited coverage establish his relationship to Benny and Kelly, but do not explain Jack’s surname. There is no verified basis here to attribute “Damon” to a marriage, adoption, or any particular naming history for his mother.

In the season 14 premiere, Damon is reported to have transferred away from Firehouse 51. That is the character’s in-story status; Michael Bradway’s casting is a separate matter. TVLine reported in July 2025 that Bradway would not return as a regular in season 14, while noting that a guest reprisal could depend on scheduling.
Showrunner Andrea Newman has said of characters who have left, “Any of them could come back.” In her September 30, 2025 interview with Parade, that comment described a general possibility, not a promise of a Damon storyline. As of October 8, 2026, the sources cited here do not confirm a season 15 appearance. His future is therefore open: he has transferred away, but a return has not been ruled out or confirmed.
