The game had already become a breakout hit, but the available reporting does not establish that its popularity was the reason the show chose it.
Which South Park episode has ARC Raiders?
ARC Raiders appears in “Turkey Trot,” an episode of South Park season 28. PC Gamer reported that Tolkien is shown playing the game. The reporting describes a brief gameplay cameo, not a full crossover event.
How did ARC Raiders end up in South Park?
Embark Studios marketing lead Ashley St. Germain described the turnaround to PC Gamer this way: “On Monday South Park inquired if a character could play Arc Raiders in an upcoming episode, on Tuesday we provided footage, and on Wednesday we were in season 28’s ‘Turkey Trot’ episode.”
That account makes the handoff unusually quick: the studio received a request, provided footage, and saw it appear in the episode across three consecutive days. The report does not establish a formal marketing partnership, paid placement, or merchandise collaboration. Nor does it confirm that the game’s popularity prompted the request.

How popular was ARC Raiders when the cameo was reported?
The game had reached major sales and concurrent-player milestones by early 2026. These are dated figures reported by Nexon and Epic Games; they are not current October 2026 counts, and concurrent players should not be mistaken for unique players.

Together, the announcements support calling ARC Raiders a breakout success. They provide context for why its appearance in a major TV show attracted attention, but they do not prove why South Park selected it.

ARC Raiders is an extraction shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Italy. Players leave the underground hub of Speranza for the dangerous surface known as the Rust Belt, where they scavenge and try to escape. Hostile autonomous robots create a PvE threat, while encounters with other raiders add PvP risk.
In a February 2026 PC Gamer interview, Embark design director Virgil Watkins said players were not required to fight other players and that the developers were trying to accommodate both peaceful and PvP-oriented play. That describes the game as discussed at the time of the interview; it is not a promise about future matchmaking or game modes.
