Donald Trump shared images depicting “Swifties for Trump” on Truth Social in August 2024, including a fake image suggesting Taylor Swift endorsed him. Swift had not endorsed Trump. The images did not establish a real Swift endorsement or a broad political movement among her fans; in September, Swift endorsed Kamala Harris and said the fakes heightened her concerns about AI misinformation and prompted her to clarify her own voting plans.
What the August 2024 images showed
On August 25, 2024, Trump shared a Truth Social post with images of women wearing “Swifties for Trump” shirts and a fabricated image suggesting Swift herself supported him. CBS News reported that at least some of the images were AI-generated. The post also included a headline framed as satire, claiming Swifties were turning to Trump after Swift’s Vienna concerts were canceled following a thwarted terrorist plot. That satire label matters: the headline was not a genuine news report about a fan movement. CBS News reported on the post and images.

The available reporting does not establish which image-generation system produced each image or provide a complete technical provenance chain. It supports saying that at least some were AI-generated, not that every image in the post was.
Did Taylor Swift endorse Trump?
No. The image purporting to show Swift endorsing Trump was fake, and she had not endorsed him. In September 2024, Swift endorsed Kamala Harris. FactCheck.org’s September 2024 account covers the distinction between Swift’s actual endorsement and claims circulating around it.

- The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th
Did the pictures prove that Swifties supported Trump?
No. Fabricated crowd-style images cannot establish the political views of a large, diverse fanbase. There was a real individual example: WIRED reported that Jenna Piwowarczyk wore a homemade “Swifties for Trump” shirt at a June 2024 rally. That shows one person’s support; it does not authenticate the images shared by Trump or demonstrate broad fan opinion. WIRED reported on the images and the individual supporter.
Why did Swift endorse Harris after the images circulated?
Swift said the fake imagery heightened her fears about AI and the dangers of misinformation, and helped motivate her to state her actual plans as a voter. In her September endorsement post, reproduced by TIME, she wrote: “The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.” She also described the images as something that “really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.” The images were part of the context she gave for speaking publicly; the account does not establish them as the sole cause of her endorsement. TIME reproduced Swift’s statement.

- Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released worldwide October 3, 2025
How to separate the claims
- Swift’s authentic position: She endorsed Harris in September 2024.
- A real individual supporter: One person wore a homemade “Swifties for Trump” shirt at a June rally, as WIRED reported.
- Fabricated depictions: Trump’s August post included fake imagery, with at least some images reported as AI-generated.
These are separate facts. Neither the fake images nor a single person’s shirt establishes what Swift believed before her endorsement or what Swift’s fans collectively believed. For broader context on Swift’s political involvement, see TIME’s history of Swift’s involvement in politics.
