Richards stood out in a bright orange cardboard sandwich board referencing Perry’s 2022 Menu Log commercial. PerthNow reported that Perry selected him and several other fans in distinctive outfits, then encouraged him to rap lines from the advertisement. She also posed for photos with him, the report says.
Richards described the moment as hard to believe: “You always manifest it, but you don’t actually think it’s going to happen to you,” he told PerthNow. “It just didn’t feel real.”
How did he make the costume?
The outfit was a last-minute, homemade creation. Richards had first planned to dress as a firework, but changed course and made the cardboard sandwich board on the day of the concert. He added glitter in the shape of the Menu Log logo.
