What is Castle Impossible about?
The series follows Daphne and Ian Fig as they restore Chateau de Lésigny, a historic property Daphne inherited from her grandfather. HGTV describes the chateau as 500 years old and about 15 miles outside Paris. Daphne’s grandfather purchased it in 1981 and left it to her after his death in 2020. This is not simply a sequence of room makeovers. The couple are dealing with a large estate whose historic fabric, outbuildings, and grounds all add to the work. Why does the restoration feel endless?
HGTV reports that the main house has 134 windows and more than 20 upstairs rooms needing total renovation. The estate also covers 133 acres and includes a lodge, stables, a farmhouse, a dove tower, a woodland cabin, lakes, forest, and extensive grounds. The work has several layers: preserving and making a historic property usable, repairing auxiliary buildings, and improving spaces for everyday life and events. A finished-looking room does not resolve the needs of the rest of a sprawling estate, so individual projects sit within a much larger maintenance burden.
Is Chateau de Lésigny actually haunted?
The show’s “haunted” framing is subjective. HGTV says Daphne and Ian disagree about whether the chateau is haunted; Ian joked, “I think one of the only places in the chateau that’s haunted is the dungeon.” That is the couple’s on-camera perspective, not proof of paranormal activity. (HGTV)

What do they renovate in Season 2?
Season 2’s projects range from practical conversions to spaces connected with weddings and hospitality.
