How they were connected on Charmed
Combs and Doherty played sisters on the supernatural drama Charmed: Combs was Piper Halliwell, and Doherty was Prue Halliwell. The series ran from 1998 to 2006, according to the Los Angeles Times. Their on-screen family relationship echoed the sisterhood Combs described in her tribute. ABC News also reported on the tribute and their roles.

When the tribute was posted
Doherty died on July 13, 2024, at age 53, after a yearslong cancer battle, ABC News reported. Combs posted her tribute on July 15. The “better half of 31 years” line is Combs’s own description of their relationship, not a separately verified count of its duration.
Combs shared another memorial on July 21, including throwback images and a wry reference to Doherty having promised to haunt her. The next day, Combs spoke on the House of Halliwell rewatch podcast about plans they had expected to share and the feeling that they thought they had more time. Those were later remembrances, separate from the July 15 caption. E! News and Us Weekly reported on the later tributes.
