For a first watch, start with the two seasons of HiGH&LOW THE STORY OF S.W.O.R.D., then watch the original film and its sequels in release order. Add THE RED RAIN between the first and second films if you want the connected Amamiya brothers spin-off. Nippon TV’s Japanese theatrical release dates place THE MOVIE on July 14, 2016, THE RED RAIN on October 8, 2016, END OF SKY on August 19, 2017, and FINAL MISSION on November 11, 2017. The catalog introduces the world with the line, “Legend has it that the streets are ruled over by a group known as Mugen.” Nippon TV’s feature-film guide lists the film details and synopsis.
Should you watch THE RED RAIN?
Include it in the release-order route if you want the Amamiya brothers’ story alongside the main films. If your priority is only the central S.W.O.R.D. confrontation, it is a spin-off rather than a required chapter in that core film sequence. Its place between the first film and END OF SKY follows its October 2016 release.
Optional recap: ROAD TO HiGH&LOW
ROAD TO HiGH&LOW is a recap, not an essential new chapter. The official release page describes it as a compilation of the drama included on the deluxe disc edition of THE MOVIE. You can skip it if you have watched the two seasons.

Where to watch: check Netflix in your country
Netflix has a page for High & Low The Movie 3 / Final Mission, but that page reports the title as unavailable in the viewer’s country. A title page does not establish that the film—or every installment—is currently available worldwide. For background on the original film, Nippon TV’s catalog gives its runtime as 129 minutes. The official 2016 DVD release announcement says HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE grossed 2.1 billion yen and drew more than 1.6 million admissions; those figures are the announcement’s report for that film.
