Matt Rife ranked second at $57.5 million. Those figures come from a January 2025 calendar-year summary; Billboard Boxscore’s separate year-end comedy ranking used a different tracking window, October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024.

The following figures are reported by Celebrity Net Worth’s January 20, 2025 summary, which attributes its calendar-year figures to Billboard Boxscore charts. Grosses, ticket counts and show totals are reported values; they are not a substitute for the differently dated Billboard year-end ranking.

What the numbers show—and what they do not
Bargatze led in gross and reported attendance
Bargatze’s $82.2 million gross and roughly 1.1 million tickets sold were the highest figures in this calendar-year list. That is notable alongside his 148 reported shows: the ranking measures total reported touring activity, not just how often an act performed.
Rife performed the most shows
Rife’s 256 shows were the most among the ten, while his $57.5 million gross placed him second. Show count, ticket count and gross describe different dimensions of touring scale; none alone explains why an act earned or sold more than another. The figures do not establish causes such as ticket pricing, venue size or audience demand.

Gross per show is only an approximate calculation
Dividing each reported gross by its reported show count gives a rough average gross per show, not a reported figure or a measure of performer income. For example, Bargatze’s figures yield about $555,000 per show, while Rife’s yield about $225,000. These calculations use rounded source totals, and gross receipts are not the same as an artist’s take-home pay.
Why another 2024 ranking gives a different picture
Eric Frankenberg’s Billboard Boxscore-based article, published December 18, 2024, counted eligible reported worldwide shows from October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024—not January through December. It named Bargatze the leading comedy act for that tracking period and described his approximately $80 million as a Boxscore record for the largest one-year gross by a comedy performer. The article reported $396.7 million combined gross for its top ten, up 52% year over year, across 944 shows. These are figures for that specific tracking window, not the calendar-year totals in the table. Read Frankenberg’s Billboard Boxscore-based report.

Billboard and Pollstar are separate touring charts
Pollstar’s December 13, 2024 year-end analysis offers broader touring-market context, not a comedy ranking comparable to the table above. Pollstar reported $9.5 billion gross for its 2024 Top 100 Worldwide Tours and a $135.92 average ticket price for that chart. Those figures cover a separate data set and should not be combined with Billboard’s comedy totals. See Pollstar’s 2024 year-end analysis.
