The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards are not airing live now. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. If you are looking for a replay today, the answer depends on your country—but in the United States, no verified streaming service currently offers the complete 2024 ceremony.
What happened to the 2024 VMAs stream?
The 2024 VMAs originally had several viewing options. MTV and a group of sister networks carried the live broadcast, while contemporary streaming guides listed Paramount+ and live-TV services such as Sling TV, Philo, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV where those services carried the relevant channels.
Those arrangements applied to the live event and its immediate replay window. They should not be treated as permanent catalog access. Paramount’s current VMAs page now displays a Season 2025 episode selector rather than a verified 2024 replay, and Paramount’s own 2024 VMAs materials are archived.
Can you stream the full 2024 MTV VMAs in the U.S.?
At the time of checking, no. JustWatch’s U.S. listing for MTV Video Music Awards reports that the program is unavailable for streaming after checking 1,548 services. The page provides a notification option rather than a current U.S. playback provider.

| Service or source | What it offers now | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Paramount+ | The official VMAs hub, currently showing later-season material | It does not verify a complete 2024 ceremony |
| MTV.com | Information about watching select MTV episodes | It does not promise the full 2024 awards broadcast |
| JustWatch U.S. | A notification option for the title | No current U.S. streaming provider is listed |
| YouTube | Clips, highlights, and possible user uploads | Search results are not proof of an official, complete stream |
How to check the official Paramount+ page
- Go to Paramount+ and open Shows → Music & Specials → MTV Video Music Awards.
- Check the season selector instead of relying on an old article’s “Watch on Paramount+” button.
- Confirm that an episode is specifically labeled as the 2024 ceremony before subscribing or attempting playback.
The current page resolves to the general VMAs hub and exposes later programming. If the 2024 show is not listed in the episode selector, Paramount+ is not currently confirming access to that edition.
What about MTV, Pluto TV, or a live-TV service?
MTV’s current How to Watch page says that Paramount+ and Pluto TV carry select episodes of MTV series. That wording does not establish that the complete 2024 VMAs are available on either service.

- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
Similarly, Sling TV, Philo, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV were relevant options around the original broadcast date when they carried the necessary networks. A subscription to one of those services today should not be purchased solely on the assumption that it includes the 2024 ceremony. Search the service’s current catalog first, and look for an episode or event explicitly dated September 11, 2024.
Be careful with unofficial uploads
You may find YouTube results labeled “full show” or similar. These uploads are not automatically official MTV or Paramount releases. They can be removed for copyright reasons, region-blocked, incomplete, poorly recorded, or edited down to highlights.

A safer way to assess a result is to check:
- whether the channel is officially associated with MTV or Paramount;
- whether the video identifies the complete ceremony rather than a highlights package;
- whether the upload date and description match the September 11, 2024 broadcast; and
- whether the video plays in your location without asking you to install unfamiliar software or provide payment details on an unrelated site.
What viewers could watch when the event was live
For historical reference, the ceremony aired across MTV’s network footprint, including MTV, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1, and Univision. Paramount+ and several live-TV streaming packages were also listed as options by guides covering the event at the time.
That information explains why older search results may still say “watch on Paramount+.” It describes the 2024 broadcast window, not a guaranteed permanent replay. The limited-time Paramount+ offer promoted around the event—$29.99 for a year and available through September 23, 2024—has also expired.

Bottom line for finding the ceremony
If you are in the United States, there is currently no verified full stream of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards to click through. Check the official Paramount+ VMAs hub and a current availability tracker for changes, but do not assume that a later VMAs season is the 2024 show. For now, official clips, performances, and award highlights may be easier to find than the complete ceremony.

Is the full 2024 MTV VMAs ceremony on Paramount+?
A current Paramount+ page leads to the VMAs hub and shows a later season, but it does not verify a complete 2024 replay. Do not rely on an old “Watch on Paramount+” link.
Can I watch the 2024 VMAs for free on Pluto TV or MTV.com?
There is no verified U.S. full-ceremony stream through those services in the current availability information. MTV says that Paramount+ and Pluto TV offer select episodes, which is not a promise of access to this awards broadcast.
Are YouTube uploads of the full 2024 VMAs official?
Not necessarily. Some may be user uploads, incomplete recordings, or unofficial copies that can be removed or region-blocked. Check that the channel is an official MTV or Paramount account before treating a video as an authorized stream.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards aired on September 11, 2024, and no current U.S. service has been verified as streaming the complete ceremony. The official Paramount+ page now points to later VMAs programming, while MTV.com and Pluto TV only advertise select content. Use official availability pages for updates and treat “full show” uploads on third-party platforms with caution.
