The setback did not leave the film on hold: production was reported underway in London and Scotland by February 2026, and still filming in April. The injury’s nature has not been disclosed, and the reports reviewed do not confirm a release date.
What happened to Henry Cavill?
On September 11, 2025, TheWrap reported that Cavill had been injured during pre-production and that the film’s planned September start was moving to early 2026. The report did not identify the injury or give a prognosis.
On October 3, Variety reported that Cavill had shared recovery photos with the caption, “Endure. In enduring, grow strong.” That was the actor’s caption, not a medical update: it did not specify what was injured or when he would be ready to work.
When did Highlander start filming?
The schedule moved from a planned September 2025 start to 2026. By February 11, Screen Global Production reported that filming was underway in London and Scotland. On April 16, it reported that filming was continuing, with further work planned in the Scottish Highlands, Poland, and Hong Kong. Variety also described the film as still shooting in its coverage of footage shown at Amazon MGM’s CinemaCon presentation.
