Eric Burlison presented footage he described as an MQ-9 tracking an object near Yemen before a second MQ-9 fired a Hellfire missile at it. The hearing transcript records that account, but the cited public record does not independently establish the object’s identity or show that a missile definitively bounced off an indestructible craft. That “bounced right off” description came from journalist George Knapp, not an official technical finding.
What happened at the September 2025 hearing?
Burlison said the footage was recorded on October 30, 2024, off Yemen. He described one MQ-9 tracking an orb or object and another MQ-9 launching a Hellfire missile. The transcript documents what the congressman said about the video; it does not independently verify the date, location, object, or its properties. Read the official hearing transcript.
During the exchange, Knapp characterized the apparent interaction this way: “that is a hellfire missile smacking into that UFO and just bounced right off, and it kept going.” Knapp is a UAP journalist, and this was his interpretation of the displayed footage. In the same exchange, Burlison said he would not speculate about what the object was. Neither statement is a technical determination of what the video depicts. The transcript records the exchange.
What does the public video show—and leave out?
CBS reported that a whistleblower provided the publicly shown video. According to CBS, the second Reaper—the aircraft said to have launched the missile—was not shown, and mission details remained unclear. CBS also reported that the Pentagon declined to comment. Those limits matter: the public clip and descriptions do not provide the full context needed to establish the missile’s path, what it contacted, or the object’s identity. Did Congress or the Pentagon confirm an extraordinary explanation?
The hearing confirms that a member of Congress presented footage and that participants described it in particular ways. In the cited public record, it does not amount to a case-specific technical finding that the target was an extraterrestrial craft, that a missile struck an indestructible object, or that the Pentagon authenticated such an explanation. CBS reported that the Pentagon declined comment; that is not an identification or confirmation.
A technical determination of this event would require more than testimony about a clip: for example, authenticated video and supporting sensor or mission data. The cited sources do not establish the video’s provenance beyond the whistleblower attribution, provide complete sensor data or missile telemetry, identify the object, or explain the physical interaction. The responsible conclusion is that those questions remain unresolved in the public record reviewed here.

How does AARO’s FY2024 report fit?
The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reviewed 757 cases reported to U.S. authorities from May 1, 2023, through June 1, 2024. That total included 272 earlier incidents newly reported during that period. AARO’s broad report is not a case-specific answer to the Yemen video presented at a hearing in 2025. AARO’s FY2024 reporting.
As the Associated Press quoted the report authors on November 14, 2024: “It is important to underscore that, to date, AARO has discovered no evidence of extraterrestrial beings, activity, or technology.” That conclusion concerns the cases AARO reviewed; it neither identifies the object in the later-presented video nor proves that every individual report has been explained. Don’t confuse the video hearing with the November 2024 hearing
The House committee’s November 13, 2024 hearing, titled “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth,” was a separate event. Its listed witnesses included Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet (Ret.), Luis Elizondo, Michael Gold, and Michael Shellenberger. It preceded the September 2025 hearing at which Burlison presented the Hellfire video. Official House hearing page.
