Sony has confirmed a Helldivers film from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, with a theatrical release scheduled for November 10, 2027. Sony’s announcement confirms the adaptation and date; production details such as the director, star and screenwriter come from separate entertainment-media reporting.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s August 12, 2026 announcement says the Helldivers franchise will expand with a film adaptation from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, scheduled to reach theaters on November 10, 2027. Sony’s announcement is the primary source for the studios and release date. A scheduled date can still change.

The release statement does not provide a plot, rating, production schedule or additional release territories. It also does not name the film’s creative team.
Who is reported to be making the film?
GameSpot reported on February 11, 2026 that Justin Lin would direct, Jason Momoa would star, and Gary Dauberman would write the screenplay. These are reported personnel details, not details included in Sony’s August release-date statement. GameSpot’s report is the source for those names.

Why PlayStation Productions is involved
PlayStation Productions is part of Sony Interactive Entertainment and adapts PlayStation properties for film and television at Sony Pictures. In an April 20, 2023 PlayStation interview, its head, Asad Qizilbash, explained that the approach depends on the source material: “There’s not one size that fits all in terms of a method of adapting video games to film or TV.” He also said the source material is used “as inspiration versus as a rule book.” The comments describe the studio’s general adaptation philosophy, not specific creative decisions for Helldivers.
How large is the game’s audience?
Sony reported that Helldivers 2 had welcomed more than 22.9 million players across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC as of August 9, 2026. That is a dated player-count snapshot, not a live total. Sony’s August 2026 announcement gives the figure.

Is there official Helldivers film merchandise?
No film-specific merchandise, licensee or retailer is identified in the Sony material cited here. PlayStation’s March 14, 2024 post announced existing Helldivers 2 merchandise—including T-shirts, hoodies, mugs and accessories—and named PlayStation Gear, Amazon, Insert Coin and selected other retailers. The announcement included regional availability limits; it does not establish current inventory or an active listing. Sony’s July 2, 2025 article discusses merchandise as part of its broader entertainment strategy, but does not identify a Helldivers film product or licensing partner. That article is not evidence that film merchandise is available.
