Klum said the idea came from the hazy, late-night feeling of wanting sunglasses after a long party; the recording also became the title track for the then-upcoming season of Germany’s Next Topmodel. The official music video, directed by Rankin, was published on March 7, 2024.
What inspired Klum’s version?
Klum connected the idea to the moment at a party when it is late, makeup has worn off, and a person is sweaty and tired. In Warner Music’s January 26, 2024 announcement, she said that scene reminded her of Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses at Night,” the 1983 hit she wanted to remake with Tiësto.
In a February 2024 interview with HafenCity Zeitung, Klum described the recording as a “Fun-Track” and a way to have a small dance party at home before going out. She also said sunglasses can feel like a shield that makes someone feel freer and more expressive; that was her personal take on the song’s imagery, not a claim about eyewear’s safety or effectiveness. The feature quotes her in German: “Dieser Track hat so einen Beat, wo du gar nicht still sitzen kannst. Man muss einfach tanzen.” A close English translation is: “This track has such a beat that you can’t sit still. You just have to dance.”
How Tiësto contributed—and what Corey Hart said
Tiësto produced the track. He said he and Klum were spending time together when she shared her idea to remake the original, and that he wanted to help with production. Hart, whose song Klum revisited, responded approvingly, calling the cover “a seductive supernova dance explosion on the bright side of the moon.”

How the 2024 recording relates to Corey Hart’s original
This is a cover of Hart’s 1983 “Sunglasses at Night,” not a different song with the same title. Warner Music described Klum and Tiësto’s version as an electronic update of the New Wave original. The new recording centers Klum as vocalist and Tiësto as producer, and carries a separate tie-in to Germany’s Next Topmodel.
Release dates and the Germany’s Next Topmodel connection
Warner Music Central Europe released the single on January 26, 2024. Apple Music’s US catalog lists it as a one-track Dance release by Heidi Klum, with ℗ 2024 Warner Music Group Germany Holding GmbH; catalog availability may vary by territory and change over time. Warner said the track was selected as the title music for the upcoming season of Germany’s Next Topmodel. The February 2024 feature reported that the show’s 19th season was scheduled to begin on February 15, 2024; that date is historical, not a current-season schedule.

The official Tiësto artist-channel listing is titled “Heidi Klum – Sunglasses At Night (prod. by Tiësto) (Official Music Video).” It credits Klum as vocalist, Tiësto as producer, and Rankin for the video, and gives March 7, 2024 as the listing date.
