Hasbro’s September 17, 2026 Transformers Day announcement places previously revealed Optimus Prime-inspired products in its celebration of The Transformers: The Movie’s 40th anniversary. But the announcement and Hasbro’s 2026 lookbook do not identify a specific Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime figure or confirm its price, accessories, preorder date, or release window.
What is the Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime figure?
The title refers to a physical Transformers Studio Series collectible based on Optimus Prime as portrayed in the 1986 film. Hasbro’s official announcement confirms that Optimus Prime-inspired products are part of the anniversary product lineup, but it does not establish that a particular item is the Studio Series 86 figure described in the title, nor does it provide that figure’s product number or specifications. That distinction matters because an anniversary product mention is not a full product listing. The available official material does not confirm the figure’s design details, size or class, transformation features, included accessories, or retailer availability.
How does it fit into the 40th-anniversary celebration?
Hasbro dated its Transformers Day release September 17, 2026, and described the occasion as part of a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie. The announcement says a newly restored 4K presentation returned to theaters and highlights the post-credits short Optimus Prime: Awakening. Hasbro describes the short as 12 minutes long, with Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker as Megatron and Soundwave; it also says the short’s original score was available on streaming platforms. These are details about the anniversary event, not specifications or release information for the figure. Hasbro’s Transformers Day announcement

What are the price and release date?
Hasbro’s available announcement and 2026 lookbook do not state a price, preorder date, release window, or current stock status for this exact figure. The lookbook lists other anniversary products, but those details cannot be applied to Optimus Prime.
For example, the lookbook gives approximate prices and expected seasons for products including Sunstreaker, Kranix, Wheeljack, Skywarp, Dinobot Snarl, Astrotrain, and Shockwave. It also lists the Matrix of Leadership, a separate collectible. Those are distinct items, not a basis for estimating the Optimus Prime figure’s price or features. Hasbro’s 2026 lookbook

What should buyers check before ordering?
Until a listing can be matched confidently to this figure, avoid treating a search result or anniversary roundup as confirmation. A reliable product page should identify the Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime by name and product number and specify its film design, class or scale, conversion features, accessories, price, release timing, and retailer availability. The exact Amazon listing and availability were not verified in the available sources, and Hasbro’s mention of a Target Transformers capsule collection does not establish that this figure is sold there.
