Hasbro announced a new Wizards of the Coast game-development hub for downtown Montréal on September 30, 2025. The announcement projected an opening in summer 2026, but the available sources do not confirm whether it opened by October 8, 2026. The planned studio was to develop new Dungeons & Dragons content and support Wizards’ digital-games portfolio; no specific game was named.
What Hasbro announced
Hasbro said the new hub would operate as Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. and work alongside Wizards’ existing Montréal video-game team at Invoke Studios. It was presented as an expansion of the company’s game-development presence, not as the launch of a particular title. Hasbro’s September 30, 2025 announcement described the studio’s remit as creating new Dungeons & Dragons content and supporting the company’s growing digital-games portfolio.
What the studio was expected to make
The announcement did not identify a game, release date, platform, or specific project. It points to two broad areas of work: new D&D content and support for Wizards of the Coast’s digital games. That does not establish whether the studio would develop a standalone video game, contribute to an existing project, or work across multiple formats.
How it relates to Invoke Studios
The new hub was planned to operate alongside Invoke Studios, Wizards of the Coast’s existing video-game team in Montréal. The announcement treats them as distinct teams; it does not say that Invoke was being renamed, replaced, or merged into Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc.

Who was set to lead it, and how many jobs were projected?
Hasbro named Dan Ayoub to lead the effort, describing him as an industry veteran and Concordia University graduate. Ayoub said in the September 30, 2025 announcement: “It feels incredible to return to the city where my career began in 1999, back when the gaming industry was just taking off.”
Hasbro projected about 200 jobs over the following three years. Investissement Québec’s French-language announcement also reported the expectation. These are announced job-creation projections, not a verified current headcount or confirmation that all the positions were filled. Investissement Québec International placed the expansion in a Québec gaming ecosystem it described in 2025 as comprising more than 250 studios and 15,000 highly skilled professionals.

Where and when was it expected to open?
The planned site was in downtown Montréal, next to Invoke Studios. Hasbro said it expected an official opening in summer 2026, and Investissement Québec International corroborated the location and timing. Those sources document the forecast, not whether the studio subsequently opened. As of October 8, 2026, the available sources here do not establish its operating status.
