Warner Bros. Discovery described them as the new cast for its adaptation of the books. The official announcement said the search involved “tens of thousands” of children. Wizarding World also reported that Mark Mylod said the team had seen 30,000 young actors audition; that is an attributed figure, not an independently verified count. Read the main-trio announcement.

Which actors have been announced for season two?
The official guide lists a separate set of performers for season two. These names are confirmed for that season, not part of the first-season roster above:
- Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart
- Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley
- Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle
- Lenny Rush as Dobby
- Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley
- Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey
- Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle
Season placement matters: the appearance of a role in the series guide does not mean that performer is in season one.

When is the series expected to premiere?
As of October 8, 2026, the current official series guide lists a Christmas 2026 debut on HBO and HBO Max where available. An official student-casting page and an earlier production announcement instead give 2027, so Warner Bros. Discovery’s official pages are inconsistent. Treat Christmas 2026 as the guide’s latest schedule listing, not a confirmed premiere date. The student-casting page still says 2027.
Production has commenced at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. Francesca Gardiner is writing and executive producing; Mark Mylod executive produces and directs multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman are also named as executive producers in the official materials.
Is this the complete cast?
No final, complete cast list has been established. The names above are official confirmations available as of October 8, 2026; additional performers may be announced. A fan cast, rumor, or an actor’s earlier work is not confirmation of a role unless an official source names the pairing.
Season one is titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, matching the first novel the series adapts. The book is optional background, not a requirement for watching the show. The official series guide lists the season title and current schedule information.
